Player Development: This is a series I did with Lena last week. Ball handling, passing, shot preparation, one on one skills. Still cleaning some things up and building better consistency. But couldn’t be more proud of Lena’s growth mindset this spring. 1. High/Low pass around defender 2. Jumper with hand in the face 3. Skill Development: off/weak hand work… 1. Post Move with off hand 2. Pass to the scout guy with off hand 3. Drive with off hand 4. Jumper with dominant hand. - need 7 doubles (2/3 makes) to move on. Scout guys are dummy d, providing appropriate angles & soft contests. #GrowOurGame #DoTheWork

Hunting and creating advantage… that is what we are trying to teach and empower offensively. It’s making me a better coach, helping them learn to think and be solution finders. I’m still growing in this as a teacher, but I’m living the process. We are doing this out of “Get” actions here. #GrowOurGame #teamwork

lauren betts is the most versatile center in the last generation in my opinion. She is dominant in so many areas on both sides of the ball. A wnba GM asked me if she can do anything outside of 8 feet. The answer is a resounding YES! Just a couple of clips from our scrimmage. I love this teaching time with UCLA Women's Basketball . This is a warm-up footwork/shooting pocket drill that we did with Gabs & CLW this week. They start when they hear the ball bounce. Working on locating the ball, getting their feet/balance under the ball, & getting to shooting pocket from awkward places (like bad passes in a game). Hope it spurs on your creativity. #GrowOurGame #DoTheWork #intentionalLearning

Skill Development: The more I watch the WNBA playoffs & study our NCAA tournament film, the more I think passing is a lost art. In whatever we are doing skill development wise, I’m asking our staff to include passing. Every drill can include passing w/creativity and intention. This was a simple way we added it to a guard shooting drill. Hope it spurs you on. #GrowOurGame #ServeEachOther

Skill Development: This is meant to spur on ideas and help grow the game. This isn’t showing perfection. Thankful to UCLA Women's Basketball for having the courage to let me do this. This is from Sienna Betts 3rd week of school. We are learning each other and what habits need to be addressed and where we start in her fundamental tool box. This drill is primarily about footwork and shot preparation consistency. Si is a permananent pivot person. She always wants her right foot to be her pivot foot. When she knows she isn’t shooting right off the catch her left foot gets too wide. We need to work to create an efficient and consistent shot pocket (that includes her left foot being more consistently aligned with her shooting pocket and shooting line). I am sooooo impressed with Sienna’s basketball IQ, coachability, and determination to become great. She is willing to make the uncommon choices. She will be an elite player for the Bruins #GrowthMindset #GrowOurGame. #ProcessOverOutcomes
