Motion Shooting: We have been installing our actions through motion shooting time. We can’t fit it all in before Canada but we are introducing concepts, spacing, screening actions, etc.. Player Development: This is a series I did with Lena last week. Ball handling, passing, shot preparation, one on one skills. Still cleaning some things up and building better consistency. But couldn’t be more proud of Lena’s growth mindset this spring. 1. High/Low pass around defender 2. Jumper with hand in the face 3. Skill Development: off/weak hand work… 1. Post Move with off hand 2. Pass to the scout guy with off hand 3. Drive with off hand 4. Jumper with dominant hand. - need 7 doubles (2/3 makes) to move on. Scout guys are dummy d, providing appropriate angles & soft contests. #GrowOurGame #DoTheWork

Skill Development: Sienna Betts is going to be a major problem for opponents next year. Excited for what she will earn. This is a quick drill from spring workouts. Here are the 3 parts. 1. Get open vs live denial on a cut to high post. 2. Drive to basket off the “get action” (dummy D) 3. Live low post shot. Have to create the catch by getting open with both feet in the war zone. - make 7 doubles on each side. #EarnWhatYouWant #IntentionalGrowth #GrowOurGame

Skill Development: I’ve been asked a lot about why I do multiple reps back to back. I think there is time & place for both. We have times when we are only focused on 1 thing. But with these two I’m working on next play speed (the mental toughness to go to the next play) and fitness. This is just a 3part drill working on multiple skills and shots, out of actions we do. lauren betts is the most versatile center in the last generation in my opinion. She is dominant in so many areas on both sides of the ball. A wnba GM asked me if she can do anything outside of 8 feet. The answer is a resounding YES! Just a couple of clips from our scrimmage. I love this teaching time with UCLA Women's Basketball . This is a warm-up footwork/shooting pocket drill that we did with Gabs & CLW this week. They start when they hear the ball bounce. Working on locating the ball, getting their feet/balance under the ball, & getting to shooting pocket from awkward places (like bad passes in a game). Skill Development: The more I watch the WNBA playoffs & study our NCAA tournament film, the more I think passing is a lost art. In whatever we are doing skill development wise, I’m asking our staff to include passing. Every drill can include passing w/creativity and intention. This was a simple way we added it to a guard shooting drill. Hope it spurs you on. #GrowOurGame #ServeEachOther
