![One of the problems is that the whole system [of funding scientific research] is institutionally biased against fundamental innovation. That's not by anyone's fault. It's simply because the method of choosing recipients goes through this bureaucratic process where the people judging it are asked to make a judgment on things that they can't possibly know. ~Conjecture Institute Advisor David Deutsch](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2037625645287485674/amplify_video_thumb/2037625574827622400/img/c1ZW9Phn7kDbumgj.jpg)

![There Is No Final Theory of Everything I think a theory of everything is perhaps not the most fruitful way of thinking about science... It is my philosophical position that for any theory, no matter how complete it looks, we may be able to find problems in it, and these problems will lead to something else. I think there are different levels of explanations, maybe infinitely many. And we keep going from one to another by understanding things more and more. I like this more open-ended way of thinking about science and physics. We just keep digging, and sometimes we find a deeper level of explanation that brings about more unification. In this view, there will always be something to work on. The idea of a [final] theory of everything suggests a sense of closure. ~Conjecture Institute Senior Scientist Chiara Marletto with Curt Jaimungal](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2049513191546200179/amplify_video_thumb/2049513098256515074/img/LXqU2sbEQJUdccba.jpg)

Turing and Godel were replying to one of the questions that David Hilbert had asked in 1900. Turing and Godel both addressed the problem and got the right answer. Turing was focused on what could be done by a physical object... Godel was focused on what can't be done by any physical object. ~Conjecture Institute Advisor David Deutsch with Gad Saad

Computers are physical entities, they run on physical laws, and their properties are a matter of physics. Constructor theory of information gives you a handle on understanding information as a part of fundamental physics. ~Conjecture Institute Senior Scientist Chiara Marletto

We haven't thought of a theory of a universal programmable heat engine, which would be an upgrade on the way people were thinking about heat engines in the old days of classical thermodynamics. I see the universal programmable heat engine as a special case of what a universal constructor is. ~Conjecture Institute Senior Scientist Chiara Marletto with Fellow Dr Maria Violaris
