JUST IN: 🇺🇸🇨🇳 Apple is lobbying the Trump administration to approve memory chips from CXMT, a Chinese company blacklisted by the Pentagon over alleged military ties. Apple is now seeking lower-cost memory chips as AI-driven demand has pushed memory prices higher. Even if that means sourcing from a company the US has blacklisted over alleged military ties. Apple CEO Tim Cook went public blaming memory suppliers for the company's latest price hikes. Memory makers, however, tell a different story. Micron’s Chief Business Officer, Sadana, told the Wall Street Journal that "certain customers" pushed memory chip prices so low during the last downturn that Micron couldn’t invest enough in expanding production. Although he didn’t name Apple, he suggested those pricing demands led to today’s global memory shortage and the higher prices consumers are now paying.

JUST IN: 🇨🇳 China’s new open-source AI model, GLM-5.2 by Zhipu AI, reportedly matches Anthropic’s Claude Mythos in security bug detection. The model outperformed some Claude versions in independent cybersecurity benchmarks and can achieve Mythos-level performance. Unlike Claude Mythos, GLM-5.2 is open-source and significantly cheaper to run. The gap between US and Chinese AI models is narrowing rapidly.

JUST IN: 🇺🇸🇮🇷 The US Treasury just sanctioned Khamenei’s money man. OFAC designated Dubai-based financier Ali Ansari, described as a key financier for Iran’s new leader Mojtaba Khamenei, along with Iranian exchange houses. They are accused of moving billions annually for sanctioned banks and regime elites. Ansari previously ran the now-collapsed Ayandeh Bank, which he used to embezzle billions before its forced dissolution in October 2025. He’s already under UK sanctions and built a €400M European property empire through offshore shell companies. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the US Treasury will “continue using every tool at its disposal to isolate him and other regime elites from the global financial system. We will preserve these assets for the Iranian people.” This follows Iran’s resumed attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, and lands just three days after the US reimposed oil sanctions and struck 80+ targets across Iran. The pressure campaign against Tehran’s inner circle is intensifying.
