Temi, 6, and Mary, 5, have been homeless for six months. The family have been moved 10 times to different temporary properties. Their primary school is in Peckham, but they’re staying in a guesthouse an hour away. At their school, over HALF of the 300 pupils are also homeless.

Sad to hear of Parmod Kalia’s death. A former subpostmaster whose life Post Office tried to destroy, wrongly accusing a father of theft and getting him sent to prison. I had the pleasure of spending time with him at his home last year. He died before receiving his compensation.

I spent today with a woman whose son has learning disabilities and is stuck in a care home where she worries every day he’s been neglected in a broken care system. One example of Westminster’s consistent failure to tackle big, systematic problems as it descends again into chaos.

The care of adults with learning disabilities and autism has been rapidly privatised in the last 30 years. It’s a sector now dominated by investment managers, private equity and foreign money while local councils who pay them are pushed to bankruptcy. Here’s a quick overview:

Lifeways CEO was paid £923,000 last year. The company’s 4 directors earned £1.65million, while paying its care workers the minimum wage. Workers told us staffing levels were at times dangerously low, and they had to work up to 16 hours a day. I put this to the CEO. 2/2
