BUILDING HOMES, BUILDING A GREATER OGUN STATE Over the last seven years, we have deliberately transformed the housing landscape of Ogun State, making affordable and quality housing a major pillar of our commitment to improving the lives of our people. Since the creation of Ogun State, no administration has delivered affordable housing on the scale we have achieved within this period. Across different parts of the State, we have developed housing estates and delivered thousands of housing units, providing decent homes for families while opening up new communities and stimulating economic activities. For us, housing goes far beyond putting roofs over people’s heads. It is about creating liveable communities, providing dignity and security for families, generating employment for artisans and professionals, supporting local businesses, and creating lasting assets for our people. Through developments such as the Prince Court Estate, Kobape; Kings Court Estate, Oke-Mosan; Kemta Idi-Aba Housing Estate; Ilaro Housing Estate; Ijebu Ode Housing Schemes in Sagamu, Iperu and other similar projects across the State, we have demonstrated that government can deliver modern, functional and affordable homes while maintaining quality standards. Our housing revolution has also created opportunities across the entire construction value chain, from engineers and architects to bricklayers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, suppliers and thousands of other workers whose livelihoods have benefited from these investments. What we have achieved in seven years is unprecedented in the history of our dear State, but we remain focused on doing even more. As we continue to build a more prosperous Ogun State, we will keep investing in housing and urban development because we believe that every family deserves the opportunity to live in a decent environment and every community deserves the infrastructure required to thrive. We are proud of the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence (GMC), Abeokuta, a 250-bed multi-specialty hospital equipped to provide world-class healthcare services across several fields, including obstetrics and gynaecology, radiodiagnostics, orthopaedics, neurology, neurosciences, surgical and other specialised medical services. The facility features a fully equipped 10-bed Intensive Care Unit and four state-of-the-art operating theatres. Since commencing radiodiagnostic services, the Centre has already attended to over 600 patients, with capacity being expanded to serve between 3,000 and 4,000 patients in the coming months. This investment reflects our administration’s commitment to prioritising healthcare and providing our people with access to quality medical services in a purpose-built facility that meets international standards. At the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence, our focus is on delivering excellent patient care, ensuring the best possible healthcare experience and building a stronger, more responsive healthcare system for Ogun State.

Today, I arrived at my polling unit in Ward 3, Ita Osanyin, Iperu-Remo, within Ikenne Local Government Area, to participate in the Ogun East Senatorial Primary of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC Nigeria). It was encouraging to witness the peaceful conduct of party members, stakeholders, and loyal APC faithful who turned out to exercise their democratic rights in an orderly and responsible manner. The enthusiasm and unity displayed by our people once again reflect the strength, maturity, and progressive spirit of our party across Ogun East. I remain deeply grateful for the overwhelming support, trust, and confidence reposed in me by leaders, delegates, and members of the APC. We are pleased to announce that the newly completed 250-bed Ogun State Medical Center of Excellence in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta will be commissioned in December 2025. During our recent inspection, we confirmed that the project, originally built but left incomplete by the past administration, has now reached an advanced stage, with exterior works, landscaping, the entrance canopy, gate, and oxygen systems already in place. We have directed the contractors to increase manpower so operations can begin within the next two to three weeks. We are positioning this facility as a “spoke” of the Abuja Medical Center of Excellence, which partners internationally with King’s College Hospital. Once fully completed and handed over to Healthshare Services Limited, the hospital will be managed to world-class standards and become the first point of care for our people. This project had significant structural, civil, and electrical gaps when we assumed office, but through our PPP office, we secured Healthshare as a credible partner and signed an MoU to complete and operate the hospital. When this center opens, it will drastically reduce medical tourism and limit the constant movement of patients from Ogun to Lagos or other institutions. Its location will also serve residents across Ogun, Oyo, Osun, and Ekiti, offering a more convenient and accessible alternative. According to the project managers, the basement, ground floor, radiology, laboratory, and consulting rooms are ready, while the theatre, ICU, and wards on the first floor are being finalized to meet our December commissioning target. We are currently undertaking the reconstruction of the Imodi–Imosan Road in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun East Senatorial District as part of our sustained efforts to expand quality infrastructure and improve connectivity across Ogun State. This important road serves several communities, and its rehabilitation is aimed at restoring safe, smooth, and reliable access for residents and commuters who depend on it daily. For a long time, the poor condition of this corridor limited movement, increased travel time, and created difficulties for residents and commuters. The ongoing works, being executed to durable engineering standards, will ease transportation, improve safety, stimulate local activities, and enhance the overall quality of life in the area. We have substantially completed the reconstruction of Tam Balogun Road in Ijebu-Ode, with all major asphalt works now finished under our administration’s ongoing drive to strengthen road infrastructure across Ogun State. The project is currently at about 98% completion, with only lane markings left to be carried out. With both the binder and final wearing courses in place, the road is fully motorable and already improving movement, safety, and travel time for residents and road users. The commencement of the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road yesterday marks another major milestone in our collective drive for better connectivity, stronger commerce and sustainable economic growth across Ogun, Oyo and the wider South-West region. We sincerely appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for this strategic intervention under the Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, CON, and his team for their commitment to its implementation. For us in Ogun State, the project will significantly improve access to Ijebu-Ode, Ago-Iwoye and the Gateway International Airport, strengthen our industrial and agricultural corridors, create new economic opportunities and complement our ongoing investments under the Building Our Future Together Agenda.

We are delighted to inform our people that the drive from Abeokuta to Papalanto is now free of bad portions. The contractor handling the Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos Road project has almost completed the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the section between Abeokuta and Papalanto, making the journey along this axis smooth and stress-free. Work is also progressing steadily between Papalanto, Ifo, and Sango, where construction activities are ongoing to deliver a durable and motorable road for the benefit of all. This project, though a federal road, was formally handed over to us after several years of failed interventions, and we took it upon ourselves to ensure it is fixed once and for all. Our administration remains resolute in its commitment to providing quality infrastructure that enhances economic growth, facilitates ease of movement, and improves the daily lives of our people. We made an unscheduled visit to the Shagamu-Benin Expressway to assess the extent of the damage. We are currently on the Shagamu-Benin Expressway, which begins at the interchange of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Our purpose here is to personally inspect the situation and understand what has led to the complete breakdown and collapse of this road, causing significant hardship for commuters traveling from Lagos to the southeast and south-south zones of the country, as well as those traveling from those regions to Lagos or other destinations. We are pleased to inform the public that asphalt laying is actively ongoing along the Alagbole–Akute Road as rehabilitation works progress steadily on the corridor. Contractors on site have already completed the initial stages, including mechanical sweeping of the surface and the application of colasé to prepare and stabilise the base layer. With the groundwork done, asphalt overlaying is now moving smoothly across the treated sections.
