“Will a Conservative government cut programs like the dental care program?” Poilievre’s response is something like: - if people wanted these programs they’d vote for the NDP in the next election. - These programs don’t actually exist. - The numbers of people using those programs are derived from government propaganda. She responds to the final point: “Is that just because you say so? What evidence or data do you have that we cannot trust those numbers?” (Great question btw) Poilievre: “Let’s get the actual facts before Canadians. And let’s make judgements based on the reality rather than on government propaganda.” If you’re one of these (fake, apparently) people enjoying these government programs, get it while you can.

Senator John Kennedy asks Canada to go to “zero tariffs.” They always omit the structural advantages the U.S. gives its industries through its size, massive subsidies, and global leverage. Without countermeasures, Canadian sectors get steamrolled by sheer American scale.

This is a fun clip that sorta had me laughing. I know the NDP isn’t doing well, but I hope Jagmeet sticks around. Maybe he’s just ahead of his time. “You don’t know the answer either, you’re just throwing out random questions. You’re just making it up, you don’t know.”

“Toronto Police and the (Canada) Border Services Agency just seized about 835 kilograms of cocaine coming in from the United States into Canada via Mexican cartels.” Trudeau makes some other points: - Canada is responsible for less than 1% of illegal drugs going into the U.S. and less than 1% of migrants. - We’re still investing over $1 billion on our borders. Take it from Casual Justin here. And while you’re at it, stop repeating Trump’s verifiably false talking points for him, like “if only Canada would secure the borders!” Compared to the U.S. and that gong show of a southern border, we got this place locked down.

I liked Singhs response to Poilievre’s point about ‘leaving baggage at home,’ so to speak. “People come from… around the world, and they care deeply about where they come from. And they should be able to do so, that’s a part of being in our country, to have that freedom.”

What does this tell you? Yves-Francois Blanchet gets his top-secret security clearance, reads the report, and immediately turns his attention to Poilievre: “The one thing I will allow myself to say: Mr. Poilievre cannot make the necessary arrangements without obtaining his security clearance and reading the report.”

Bruce Fanjoy isn’t surprised he unseated Pierre Poilievre. “Pierre, God bless him, he took the riding for granted, and people don’t like being taken for granted.” Bruce knocked on doors for two years and hustled during the campaign. Pierre’s campaign slept until the last week.

We won’t be having a “carbon tax election.” “What happens in the United States after the 20th of January will completely change the political context in Canada.” Chantal Hébert argues the next election, as well as the Liberal Party leadership race, will be all about who is best suited to manage the relationship with Donald Trump. “We’re not getting away from it—Mr. Poilievre writes about how he wants an election over the carbon tax. We won’t be there.”

“How concerning is it that Mr. Poilievre still doesn’t have his security clearance?” Trudeau sighs before answering, not out of exasperation, but maybe relief, like, “I love answering this question.” He says that foreign interference in Canadian politics makes it more imperative than ever to get briefed. So why doesn’t he get the clearance? “Because he puts his own personal interest and political advantages ahead of the well-being of Canadians.” The other party leaders have their top-secret clearance. “And Pierre Poilievre would rather cover his ears and go la la la la la, and not listen to our security agencies…”

Stop buying into the story that Canada has somehow wronged the U.S. The USMCA was Trump’s baby, and he was proud of it - unless this so-called master negotiator wants to admit he got schooled by the likes of Freeland and Trudeau in negotiations. This is not how a “friend and ally” talks to you. Time to find new buds.

When people talk about Canada’s high dairy tariffs (“241%!“ “291%!”) in this trade war, they ignore tariff rate quotas. Effectively, nobody pays these rates—they only apply if imports exceed quota limits. It’s mis/disinformation to undermine supply management.
