Among the many places where state operatives interfered with or attempted to interfere with the will of the people was Butega Cell in Nsagu Ward, Kajjansi Town Council. They brought a new register today where the incumbent chairman, National Unity Platform's Kakeeto Yiga Frank aka Taata Bobi's name did not appear, as well as many other residents known to support NUP! Thankfully the residents resisted this and insisted that the real register where they had checked and confirmed their names be used. The election had to be cancelled and postponed following these protestations. How shameless can a regime be to want to rig elections right from President to L.C.1. Chairman?🤔

This was Hon. Miria Matembe pleading with the Magistrate to allow her to go for treatment for her back. "At least Amin used to shoot you, po! But this kind of breaking......." She said. For context, this senior citizen was one of the eminent Ugandans who traversed this country seeking views on the 1995 Constitution! As I saw her crying out, I couldn't help but imagine what was going on in her mind. Mulimba mutufuze bubi nnyo! #FreeUgandaNow

Earlier this week, the National Unity Platform had a press conference in which we condemned the brutality witnessed during the last cleaning campaign. I saw some NRM apologists saying we were just politicking and opposing everything for the sake of it. And today? Instead of toning down on the violence, they have gone as far as shooting dead an unarmed citizen in cold blood! Totally unacceptable😡

This video is from October, 2021 as late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya displayed his rotting feet to court, in the hope that he could appeal to the humanity of the judicial officer to release him on bail so as to seek better medication. Sadly, court wasn't moved! Hon. Ssegirinya would be kept under detention until 2023 - by which time his health had completely deteriorated. A few months down the road, we lost him. Today's video of former Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago pleading with the Magistrate to be released so as to get better medical attention is very difficult to watch. Followed by an adjournment of 10 days! A man in that state? You would assume that the Ssegirinya situation taught all of us - and especially the judicial officers, a lesson in kindness, in humanness. Sad.

During our visit to Kisenyi this morning, we entered this workshop and found these great people who contributed money, purchased a laptop and connected it to loud speakers so that they can follow BOBI WINE's campaign trail. They follow updates every minute. Kale abantu bagala omuntu waabwe! #FreeUgandaNow

Those who say that the current wave of abductions and arrests of National Unity Platform supporters are either visitors to Uganda or they're simply devoid of critical thinking. Here are some questions: 1. We have seen NRM supporters and apologists on several occasions conducting parades and drills. At times, they go as far as using weapons and putting on military fatigues during those drills. When are they being picked up? 2. What amounts to an illegal parade? What's the difference between a parade conducted by scouts/guides, schools, churches (abasirikare ba Paapa) etc and one conducted by members of a legitimate political party dressed in their party uniform? 3. If an alleged offence was committed, why are the suspects not summoned or arrested in accordance with the law? Why are they waylaid, abducted, tortured and held incommunicado? Also, if an offence was allegedly committed in February and these comrades have been available everyday, why is the regime picking them up now that we're getting close to an election? Moreover, some of the people being picked up were never present at that gathering! 4. Between 2019 and 2021, before and after the last election, the regime abducted more than 4,000 NUP supporters. Some were maimed, while others were killed. 18 are still missing. Had they participated in a parade? That time, the excuse was red berets which did not violate any law. Now they're trying to create another excuse. Even after the election, many more have been abducted and arrested over funny reasons, including Eddie Mutwe and team who allegedly stole a jumper and were charged with aggravated robbery! Therefore, anyone can see that this is nothing short of the continuing PERSECUTION of the regime’s political opponents. #FreeUganda

How power corrupts! The impunity. The callousness is alarming but not shocking. Give it time.

Looking at that UPDF Amendment Bill took me back to Gen. Museveni’s speech to lawyers in 1987. He aptly stated that "Law can be an instrument of oppression and exploitation or an instrument of social justice," and that "Law is not always synonymous with justice". Sadly, he now ranks top amongst rulers who have [ab]used the law for the same purposes he condemned in this speech. You can hardly imagine that this is the same person who has used the law to clamp down on opponents and instil fear in the population. May God grant that we break this cycle once and for all! #FREEUGANDA

Passed by Kaala Playground, Nateete this evening, where our nomination rally will be! Everywhere we passed, people are so excited beyond measure. The expectation is high. People are ready and yearning for change. These ones were very lucky - the President himself, BOBI WINE said hello to them on the phone and promised to be with them on Wednesday. #BobiWineNomination

Isn't this the "escape from sobibo" we were told about?🤣 Meanwhile this is in Western Uganda where the regime claimed they have support, but soldiers have to block people from leaving the rally until people run away. For NRM, the regime has ferry people and to block them from leaving the rally. For NUP, they have to beat up, teargas and block people from coming to the rally. The contrast is clear. The nation is united in its quest for change. #FreeUgandaNow
