Today, the EHRC Code takes effect, restricting which toilets trans people can use. As a proud ally, I backed EDM 240 calling it unworkable. This debate is still dominated by people who don’t understand the realities of trans people’s lives.

I’ve walked London’s high streets and seen the same pattern. Poorer communities with clustering of gambling premises while wealthier areas are protected. That’s why I campaigned to scrap Aim to Permit. This is a win for local communities and the future of our high streets.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has admitted the introduction of mandatory Voter ID was a deliberate attempt to manipulate electoral outcomes in favour of the Tories. This means ministers lied about their intentions! So, should I report this to the Standards Commissioner - or to the police?👇🏾

I called out a Reform MP’s racist comments in Parliament today. I withdrew calling her a racist for her racist comments. But let’s be clear - racism has no place in Parliament or our politics.

I gave the Deputy Prime Minister, Oliver Dowden, another chance to correct the record on his false claim. Once again, he failed to do so. He is disrespecting House of Commons Speaker, UK House of Commons &amp; the country. According to the ministerial code, the Deputy PM should now resign!

The towering Mary Seacole statue reminds us of the resilience of a woman who persevered racism to care and heal. The first statue of a named Black woman in the UK. Thank you to everyone who made it a reality and to our nurses, whose compassion inspires us every day.

In the General Election debate, Nigel Farage MP tried to paint Labour as doom and gloom. So I challenged him - £22 billion financial black hole after 14 years of Tory austerity and cuts. That's nothing to smile about. The Labour Party will get the economy growing again.

Structural discrimination is a form of institutional discrimination against individuals which restricts their opportunities. It may be intentional or unintentional. As we reclaim narratives this #BlackHistoryMonth we must be intentional in our desire to change said structures.

There’s something about calling out racism that upsets people. Watching Zarah Sultana MP treatment this week reminds me of this. Politicians have a responsibility not to indulge in language that fuels hate. Politicians from all sides have failed. I fear we're seeing the results.
