This clip really showcases the difference between a human driver and Tesla FSD. FSD sees the (stupid) person crossing the road at night and slows down for them, meanwhile a human driver from the other direction nearly runs down the pedestrian. Should the person not be crossing there? Absolutely! But that’s beside the point - the reality is pedestrians do unpredictable things, and FSD is always watching for that to happen. Regenerative braking is such a wild concept. I remember doing this drive shortly after we got the Tesla and we were at ~5% battery with nearly an hour left of driving, and I couldn’t really wrap my head around how we were going to show up at the supercharger with MORE charge than we currently had.

Speed control being removed from FSD is a hot topic, and I often get roasted for not bringing it up more. Truthfully a lot of the time the lack of a user-defined max speed isn’t that big of a problem - but it still is 100% a problem. Last weekend we went to the island and the car misread the speed limits 90% of the time. The issue was when we were driving around the campsite and the speed limit was 15kmh and FSD thought it was 40kmh. So in that situation even being in sloth mode doesn’t fix the problem with the car driving too fast. Similar issue - two days ago we had a really bad rain storm and even in sloth FSD was trying to go 100kmh on the highway. Almost every other car was driving closer to 80kmh but I couldn’t force the car to drive that slow - so instead we were one of the fastest cars on the road (in the sloth speed profile) and I had to disengage and drive myself since the speeds weren’t appropriate for the conditions. I know Tesla knows about this - but I just think it’s worth bringing up 🤷‍♂️ I really really really hope v15 can fix issues like this. Also please stop speeding in school zones.

I want to say first off FSD V14.3.11 has been incredibly smooth for me all morning. I've done ~3 hours of driving today and other than some left lane camping on the highway I could have been asleep in the back of the car the whole time and nothing bad would have happened. Most of the time it feels like we are so close to unsupervised... BUT there are still issues that are worth talking about, and this video showcases one of them. For 1+ year now FSD has ignored this left turn lane and always uses it to go straight through this intersection. There are several others near my house where the car does the same thing. When I approached it this morning after installing 14.3.11 I had hoped it would have fixed it, but it doesn't seem like it. I'm not sure if we are waiting on V15 to solve issues like this - but ignorning turn only lanes is a potentially big deal... so I hope this is something that can get fixed soon.

FSD 12.5 runs a red light I want to share this to have a healthy discussion regarding this situation. This isn't in anyway an attempt to hate on FSD 12.5, I still believe this is the best release of FSD so far. Yesterday on my drive FSD for the first time ever (for me) decided to proceed on a VERY stale (red?) light. I was a bit surprised about its decision to do this, and I am wondering if perhaps the traffic light being set back (before the intersection starts there's a light on my left) has anything to do with this? Technically the car passes the light/stop line as it is still yellow. As a human driver I may have proceeded on this light if I was in a rush, but I am not sure if a robotaxi should make that same decision. FSD just gained a new lifetime user. I saw this posted on reddit and thought I would share it here. ---- I am not a regular subscriber, but I was getting over COVID. With the foggy brain I subscribed to FSD just for the month to help me get around while recovering. I am fully recovered but get to enjoy the rest of the month of FSD. Car updated from 13.2.9 yesterday to 14.2. Today on my way home this happened! I couldn't figure out why it was slamming on the brakes until a mere second before the deer jumped out. I am so thankful. It doesn't replace human intervention but all the extra 'eyes' help. I'm still in shock and so happy I didn't destroy the deer and the car. source:

FSD V14.3.9 just swerved to avoid a distracted driver I didn’t even notice this car as it started to drift into my lane, but FSD of course caught it and made a move to avoid them. When I looked over the guy was on his phone and didn’t even seem to realize what had happened. It’s so frustrating that we share the road with people like this - FSD mass adoption cannot come soon enough.

What FSD V14.3.8 did here was technically illegal. They must be replacing the stop signs in this intersection - but it’s still marked as a 4-way stop. The car slowed but did not stop while moving through the intersection. I asked Grok and she said even without a stop sign if it’s a marked 4-way stop intersection legally you’re supposed to stop. Not a huge deal - I’ve just personally never ran into this situation before.

FSD V14.1 Spends 20 Minutes Looking For Parking Spot at Costco This video is sped up 35x once we get hunting for a spot and during that time the car pulls of some really inellegent moves while searching. We did not once pass any empty available spots, the only issue is we didn't go deeper into the parking lot to search and we didn't sit and wait for people who are unloading their carts. I will post the longer narrated copy of this in a bit - but this honestly is incredible... the other thing worth noting is during the entire 20 minutes we searched for a spot not ONCE did a human driver or pedestrian look at the car and question what it was doing, we fit in the entire time very naturally.

Hey Grok, Take Me Home After finishing meeting with a client earlier today I got into the car, asked Grok to navigate me home, and then I pressed the button to start Self-Driving. Nearly an hour later I was home and FSD had handled the whole drive without any issue. Tesla is the only car that can do this.

FSD V14.1.7 | Near Accident This is without a doubt the closest I have come to getting into an accident in a long time. I think had I not taken over and slammed on the brakes we would not have slowed down in time. You can see that FSD does an incredible job reacting to the car (even before I noticed it) and was slowing down, but it was not slowing down enough to stop in time. As soon as I saw the car swerving to the right I worried she was going to bounce back into my lane so that is when I decided to go full on the brakes to stop the car. You can see prior to me taking over we were full regen braking (which is FSD reacting well) but it wasn't using any real brakes at all, and ABS was not active until I took over. Let me know what you all think in the comments. I still think FSD is incredible - the reality is if you watch the video the car saw and reacted to the situation before I did, it just didn't brake as agressively as it needed to in this situation. FSD + an attentive driver is without a doubt in my mind still safer than a normal human driver who is not using FSD.

FSD v14.3.3 parked the wrong way and hit the curb when it was backing up. I’ve never ever had FSD back up this far during a destination park… it only stopped after I hit the brake once we hit the curb.

This guy has over 20 million views on videos where he is blatantly abusing FSD. I really think Tesla should ban people who do this. It gives the wrong public perception of what FSD is today and can only do harm overall. Start with a short ban and escalate from there.. if you’re going to ban people from the robotaxi network for putting stickers on cars I think a ban for what this guy is doing is more than fair. His Tesla account is pinned in his profile, it’s not like they’d have to do work to track the guy down.

I hesitate posting this for a bunch of reasons, but I think it's good to just be transparent about everything. I love to highlight all of the incredible things that FSD does, but I also think it's good to talk about any issues that it has currently. In my opinion the E2E on the highway needs some major changes. This clip was from my drive yesterday, and it is without a doubt the most dangerous situation that FSD has put me in. Yes, I am aware that it is FSD Supervised - everything that happens in the car is ultimately my responsbility. I just was wanting to see what the car would do, and I was hoping that it would make a better decision to be honest. Let me know what you think.
