Captain Sharon Ben Harosh, an EL AL pilot, spoke with Rani’s family in Israel during the airline’s flight to New York, congratulating them on Rani’s return and sharing in the emotions surrounding the return of all the hostages. Following the conversation, the captain addressed the passengers and updated them on Rani’s return home. As of today, March 19, the Home Front Command has issued a new directive reducing that number of passengers down to approximately one hundred and thirty passengers per flight. This is a government-mandated decision that EL AL is required to follow. What this means for you: roughly half of passengers currently booked on upcoming U.S. flights will be receiving cancellation notifications. If your flight is canceled, you are entitled to a full refund or a voucher - please visit for details and next steps. We are also pausing the assignment of additional passengers to U.S.-bound flights at this time.
