There's a 78 second shot in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre of Franklin struggling to get into the house while his friends are all having fun upstairs where you can see his frustration and isolation turn his sadness into anger and I think it's the most important shot of the film

Almost caught off guard when an old show on streaming HASN’T had all of its needledrops replaced with generic stock music

You think I like 70s sex comedies for the sex or the comedy? No no no. I like them because the movie will stop so Friday the 13th Part 2's Kirsten Baker can sing the most earnest song of all time about how much she loves her friends in a nonsense wig. The sincerity!

"Horror was dying in the 90s until Scream came out" And it's the coolest most inventive shit you've ever seen in your life.

Continuing my way through watching Sabrina on Tubi and delighted over and over that the original needle drops are back in. (Watch this episode on Hulu or Disney+ and generic library music plays)

Can't stress enough that the extremely rewatchable slasher movies that became classics did so, in large part, because their locations were so well established, thus creating an environment audiences want to come back to. Shots were wider with a bunch of mini tracking shots.

See how there's technically less light in this shot, but it's easier to make out because the shadows are dark and the highlights are bright? Isn't that nice? Why do new movies/shows hate contrast so much? Because the lighting has to be motivated?

The killer polyhedron in DEMON SEED is ridiculously cool. Still never seen anything like it in another movie.
