I was wrong about the tourettes outburst at BAFTA, and I'm sorry for rushing to judgment. We were all mislead - the BBC edited out every other outburst during the program except that one. They created a situation that appeared singular and targeted. I do not diminish the impact those words had in any way, and both the men who were presenting deserve an explanation. But I will not ask someone to apologize for a disability. We got this one wrong, guys.

Police knocked on the wrong door in the middle of the night at the Mississippi home of Ismael Lopez. When he opened the door, his dog ran out. They shot and killed it. He was holding a rifle. They told him to put it down. He turned around to put it down and they shot him in the back of the head and killed him. The officer was not prosecuted. And today a Mississippi jury rejected his wife's civil suit, stating that they did not feel the officer used "excessive force."

They lied about guns being pointed at my kids during the raid (there's video). They lied about my son being taken, put in handcuffs and denied medication (there's video). They hid that multiple accounts posted messages when leaking reports (there are receipts). They hid that someone reported that Jackson's non-existent brother claimed to be part of this "plot" (there are witness statements). They lied and said I turned him in (there's video). They leaked my son's photo and published his name. They didn't baker act him or even question him about messages from other accounts. They closed the case, gave it to the state to sign off on, and only then did they charge my son - two months after they claim these were sent and nine days after knowing about the other accounts' texts. No consideration of his autism or his disability. No consideration of the trauma he's endured at the hands of the state. No verification of the anonymous complaints received by police, or that he was in treatment when these messages were sent in a facility that doesn't allow cell phones. This is insane. And I'm not about to back down now when I've beaten every false accusation they've used against me. Coming after me is one thing. Coming after my kid is entirely another. We knew something would happen when we filed this lawsuit. They saw an opportunity to inflict more pain, and they took it. And it will not stand. I got this platform only because DeSantis targeted me and my family. I'm going to keep using it to fight for them.

Five years ago today, my home was raided at gunpoint on direct orders from Ron DeSantis for "hacking" in a violent abuse of state power as an act of revenge for blowing the whistle during COVID. Three years ago, the state decided it was in *their* best interest not to prosecute me and dropped the charges. This year, after all this time, my lawsuit against them is still going through the courts, with the state requesting delays about once a month. It's been an exhausting five years.

I bet this goes hard for straight, cis white men. As a woman and a mother, I see a governor (Cox) who wants to impose his barbaric religious laws on my body, my daughters' body, even if it traps, cripples or kills us. As a scientist, I see a fringe conspiracy theorist who made his state the first to ban fluoride in water, and promotes unhinged and unscientific claims about autism. As a conservationist, I see a man who fights protections for public lands, and wants to open sacred lands to drilling. As a queer ally, I see a man who uses his power to target trans children, and impose draconian laws on people's bodies based on his bizarre religious and personal beliefs. As a former state and federal employee, I see the ban on collective bargaining for public servants, including teachers and firefighters. As an academic, I see a fascist who forces conservative indoctrination into public education, while also pillaging public funds for private schools. Wes Moore, on the other hand, has led one of the most successful efforts to combat poverty in modern history, raised the minimum wage, enshrined women's rights into the state constitution, created paid family medical leave, invested heavily in public education and renewable energy, and keeps religion TF out of my life. This "we can still be friends despite our political differences" shtick only works when your political differences don't lead to real-world harm. Disagreement on the best combination of economic policies to confront global greenhouse gas emissions isn't the same as a disagreement on whether I have a right to exist, science is real, or children deserve food, clean water, and housing. "We both like sports?" Okay, we all probably like spaghetti, too, but I'm not having dinner with somebody who wants to throw me in jail for taking birth control.

What's even more disturbing about this kind of thing becoming a common occurrence is that there are people who will watch this and not only side with the ICE thugs, but say the old man deserved it. MAGA has got to be one of the worst cases of mass psychosis in modern history.
