Jorge Rivera and his wife Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino were charged with assault after a meeting at Deltona Middle School in Florida. On International Women’s Day, I visited the Rett Syndrome Family Association and made a small donation. All proceeds from the T-shirt sales at yesterday’s fan meeting in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (NTD 110,000) were donated as well. Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological developmental disorder that mainly affects girls, with a chance of about 1 in 10,000. Some of the mothers caring for their children also make and sell handmade natural soaps to support their families. Seeing their work and hearing their stories today was truly touching. I hope more people will support families affected by rare diseases. Happy International Women’s Day 💐

The Government has confirmed it will charge independent schools 20% VAT from January 1 2025. We will fight this. The fee will also I’m told apply to pre-payment of fees. Yesterday in Parliament I raised a Point of Order, expressing my concerns over the Government’s failure to come formally before the House on their decision. Announcing the policy through a Written Ministerial Statement purposefully prevents MPs from debating this important issue which affects so many of us. This risks the 2000+ jobs in my communities that our 10 independent schools provide, and hurts those who put so much on the line for their children to attend the school right for them.
