What happened to this family is heartbreaking. Their lives are forever altered, and the courts have clearly ruled in favor of justice. The Department of Corrections upheld the law in how they handled this inmate, which is why the grand jury report said clearly there was no finding of wrongdoing. The Legislature and I supported this session to make the law stricter moving forward for all DUI cases. It is disappointing that the Attorney General is once again promoting baseless gossip to advance his political career.

I started the conversation with Operation Safe. I made it clear that it wasn't compassionate to let people sleep under a bridge. The Legislature took that seriously and gave this teeth. Now, if cities and counties are going to ignore rampant homelessness, residents have recourse. Thank you Representative Caldwell and Senator Daniels for getting HB 3985 to my desk.
