Today we re-visited Norman for another Operation SAFE cleanup. Earlier this year, we cleared the same state-owned property due to finding an individual had passed away from an overdose. The area was also littered with used needles, creating a serious safety hazard for nearby families and businesses. Recently, people moved back and began camping there again. Residents and business owners reached out to OK Highway Patrol/DPS, and action was taken. Advance notice was given to vacate the property, and this morning, our state troopers gave those individuals time to gather their belongings before Oklahoma Department of Transportation began cleaning up the hazardous materials. We will continue to enforce the law and prioritize the safety of Oklahomans- so thankful for the work OHP is doing to serve and protect through Operation SAFE.

We cleared out 16 TONS of trash today during Operation SAFE. This isn’t the Norman I grew up in, and it infuriates me that the media is trying to spin this any other way than this is happening right behind neighborhoods where children walk and play. Enough is enough.

I signed an Executive Order today creating the Oklahoma Beef Industry Advisory Council in preparation of President Trump's announcement to increase imported beef that must be sold below U.S. market rates. I am placing our wonderful Secretary of Agriculture, Blayne Arthur, as the Chair of the Council, which will meet and deliver recommendations on how to protect and grow our beef industry in Oklahoma.

What happened to this family is heartbreaking. Their lives are forever altered, and the courts have clearly ruled in favor of justice. The Department of Corrections upheld the law in how they handled this inmate, which is why the grand jury report said clearly there was no finding of wrongdoing. The Legislature and I supported this session to make the law stricter moving forward for all DUI cases. It is disappointing that the Attorney General is once again promoting baseless gossip to advance his political career.
