In Gaza, only around 300 Christians remain. Despite war, bombardment, and decades of Hamas rule, today the community gathered at Saint Porphyrius Church to celebrate several of their high school students graduating with honors and outstanding academic achievement. Even in the darkest circumstances, they continue to choose education, faith, and life. As one of the world’s oldest Christian communities slowly disappears, the Middle East loses an irreplaceable part of its history.

Today is especially important for the Church of Antioch, because Saints Peter and Paul are the founders of the Antiochian Church. On their feast day, listen to the Greek hymn rising from Damascus, chanted in the presence of His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch, and also in Arabic. This is not only a hymn. It is memory, continuity, and survival.
