#OTD in 1988 🇸🇪 FMV issued a flight test permit for a new Swedish fighter jet. Saab could now fly Pfpl 39-1. (Pfpl = Provflygplan = test/prototype aircraft) Chief test pilot Stig Holmström slept on site. Six hours after waking up on Dec 9 he became the first man to fly #Gripen.
