A national blue plaque has been unveiled to the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, creator of 'Thomas the Tank Engine'. 🚂 The plaque at his former home, 30 Rodborough Avenue in Stroud, Gloucestershire, marks 80 years since 'The Three Railway Engines' was published.

How do you like your tea? ☕ The Bridge Tea Rooms in Bradford on Avon was originally built in 1502 as a single-storey cottage for a blacksmith, with a second floor being added in 1675.

Waltham Windmill is being saved! 👏 It's one of the few six-sail working windmills left in England. The mill was added to our #HeritageAtRisk Register in 2024. Work is ongoing to repair the mill, helped by a £63,120 grant from us.

A blue plaque to music icon George Harrison has been unveiled at his birthplace, 12 Arnold Grove in Liverpool. 🔵 One of the city’s most famous sons, Harrison’s life and career had a phenomenal influence on British and global culture through music, film and humanitarian work.

These 'sound mirrors' near Lydd in Kent were built in the late 1920s as part of Britain’s early air defence system. 🛩️ Designed to detect enemy aircraft by capturing sound waves, they provided an early warning before an attack.
