Today's commissioning represents the third General Hospital commissioned within just two months, a testament to our unwavering dedication to improving healthcare accessibility for our citizens. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest medical technology and staffed by skilled healthcare professionals. While peaceful protest is undoubtedly a right of the people, your decision to prioritize safety and stability showcases great prudence. Yesterday, I inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Orlu-Mgbe-Akokwa-Uga, in Imo West Senatorial District to assess the pace and quality of the work. It was particularly encouraging to witness the remarkable progress recorded, nearly 90% completion. Beyond the physical transformation of these communities, these developments are restoring hope among our people and strengthening their confidence in government’s commitment to improving their welfare and quality of life. This is the true impact of progressive leadership that remains focused on the transformation of our society through purposeful governance and sustainable development. With the economic reforms of the #RenewedHope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which have enabled sub-national governments to deliver greater developmental outcomes, we will continue to transform our dear State in the best interest of all our people. - Hope Uzodimma

I worshipped with my good people of Imo State at the Government House Chapel, Owerri, for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, where we worshipped and prayed to God in thanksgiving for His abundant grace, love, and peace. As we look back with gratitude at the many ways God has blessed and sustained us as a State, I am reminded that His goodness to us is beyond measure. For this reason, I will continue to call on all of us to come together in unity and thanksgiving, acknowledging His faithfulness and mercy. During my visit to Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Orlu, I was deeply moved by the dedication of the medical personnel and the resilience of the patients. It was heartwarming to witness the remarkable recovery rate of those receiving treatment, a testament to the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare. It was quite a success, as the scheduled robotics-assisted surgery was duly carried out at the Robotics Center of the Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma. I am pleased to report that the patient is stable, recovering quickly, and responding well to the procedure. I commend the team of medical specialists, led by our distinguished Surgeon, Prof. Ekwueme, for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to ensuring the success of this groundbreaking procedure. This achievement is another significant step in our drive to providing Ndi Imo with access to modern, quality healthcare. My covenant with the people of Imo State remains firm: to make life more meaningful and improve the quality of living across every sector. Part of the objective of our Urban Renewal Project is to ensure not just the beautification of the capital city of Owerri, but also to decongest traffic along the major roads, enabling the seamless flow of commercial activities and making life more meaningful for our people. This vision continues to guide our commitment to building a modern, accessible, and economically vibrant capital city. We have remained steadfast in delivering on this objective, and I am delighted to see Lake Nwaebere Road taking on a new shape and look as we embark on the reconstruction of this critical artery, which will significantly decongest traffic exiting Owerri metropolis. With a contractor that has consistently delivered quality infrastructure across the State, the road is being constructed with an expanded carriageway and a dual drainage system designed to efficiently manage increased vehicular movement while ensuring durability, improved safety, and long-term value for our people. - Hope Uzodimma

For years now, we have had to deal with congestion and the indiscriminate use of Douglas Road, Owerri, despite its status as a major economic artery of the State. This unfortunate situation has created an enabling environment for the breeding of different classes of criminal elements, thereby undermining public safety, order, and the smooth flow of commercial activities. The deplorable condition of the road further contributed to these challenges, encouraging abuse and illegal movements, particularly by motorists and street traders. Our decision to embark on the reconstruction of this strategic road is in line with our Urban Renewal Project, which is aimed at salvaging the City of Owerri from the looming threat of economic stagnation and reversing the gradual decline in urban development and growth. Beyond restoring critical infrastructure, this intervention seeks to create a more organized, secure, and economically vibrant city, and during my inspection of the project site, I could literally feel the fresh air of relief breathed by residents and users of the road, expressing their appreciation for the transformative impact of our Urban Renewal Projects. The quality and pace of work observed are consistent with the expectations of the Government, and I am pleased that progress remains on track for completion within the contractual timeline. - Hope Uzodimma

In light of recent developments in Rivers State, I commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his decisive leadership in declaring a State of Emergency to forestall further escalations in the oil-rich State. This proactive measure reflects a deep commitment to the stability, security, and well-being of the good people of Rivers State and, by extension, Nigeria. Equally commendable is the swift response of the National Assembly in ratifying the President’s proclamation, reinforcing the nation’s collective resolve to uphold democracy. This action is a clear indication that Nigerians desire peace, stability, and responsible governance, particularly in times of crisis. Furthermore, the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the Sole Administrator is a strategic decision that will provide the necessary platform and atmosphere for peace to be restored. His wealth of experience and disciplined leadership will undoubtedly facilitate the return of normalcy, ensuring that governance and development continue unhindered. As stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic stability, my colleagues and I fully support Mr. President’s timely intervention. Ahead of the commencement of our party’s Primary Elections, I convened a stakeholders’ meeting with all aspirants, the party leadership in the State, party leaders, and other critical stakeholders, where we harmonized strategies and addressed the realities necessary for the successful conduct of the exercise. In my remarks, I strongly admonished against the “do or die” approach to the primaries, emphasizing that the process must remain peaceful, transparent, and driven by the overall interest of the party. I reminded all aspirants that, inevitably, only one candidate will emerge for each available position, and as loyal party members, we must unite behind whoever emerges victorious. I further reiterated that zoning remains a vital practice adopted to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and true democratic representation. It is, therefore, in the best interest of all stakeholders that we respect and abide by the zoning arrangement in our various constituencies, as it gives every group a sense of belonging and strengthens unity within the party. Consequently, I advised aspirants whose ambitions run contrary to the established zoning framework to respect the arrangement in the collective interest of peace, equity, and party cohesion. - Hope Uzodimma

(Dr.) Chioma Uzodimma Chioma Uzodimma, as I presented myself before God Almighty at the Government House Chapel, Owerri, in sincere thanksgiving for His boundless love and magnanimity upon my life. A significant highlight of the Holy Mass was the reception of the Apostolic Blessing from His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, upon me, my wife, and our family, and by extension, upon the good people of Imo State. My wife and I, together with our family, are deeply delighted and spiritually uplifted by this gracious blessing, and we pray that God continues to strengthen the Holy Father and sustain him in wisdom and good health. As a nation, we have faced challenges of multiple taxation and overlapping tax collection by various agencies, creating inefficiencies in the system. This has given rise to the Tax Reform bill carefully drafted to address these issues, aiming to streamline our tax regime for better economic growth and public welfare. Given that it is an Executive Bill, it is important that we approach it with seriousness, objectivity and not to be trivialized. Instead, it must be studied thoroughly to understand its intentions and areas of potential impact, and where necessary, objections or suggestions can be raised for review to ensure the bill serves the public's best interest. It is crucial that we do not politicize the bill because it is for the collective good of the nation, not for the interest of any individual. - Hope Uzodimma
