Yesterday, I inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Orlu-Mgbe-Akokwa-Uga, in Imo West Senatorial District to assess the pace and quality of the work. It was particularly encouraging to witness the remarkable progress recorded, nearly 90% completion. Beyond the physical transformation of these communities, these developments are restoring hope among our people and strengthening their confidence in government’s commitment to improving their welfare and quality of life. This is the true impact of progressive leadership that remains focused on the transformation of our society through purposeful governance and sustainable development. With the economic reforms of the #RenewedHope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which have enabled sub-national governments to deliver greater developmental outcomes, we will continue to transform our dear State in the best interest of all our people. - Hope Uzodimma

I commend our people of the South Eastern region for heeding our appeal not to join the nationwide protest. Your wisdom in recognizing the potential danger of hijackers targeting peaceful demonstrators is truly commendable. While peaceful protest is undoubtedly a right of the people, your decision to prioritize safety and stability showcases great prudence. It is unfortunate that those who contributed to our current economic challenges, are now the ones sponsoring protests instead of working with FG for resolution. This reaction comes simply because we have a President who is courageous enough to dismantle the entrenched cabal exploiting our common resources. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown compassion and determination in addressing the inherited challenges. He deserves our unwavering support as he works towards a more prosperous future. For years now, we have had to deal with congestion and the indiscriminate use of Douglas Road, Owerri, despite its status as a major economic artery of the State. This unfortunate situation has created an enabling environment for the breeding of different classes of criminal elements, thereby undermining public safety, order, and the smooth flow of commercial activities. The deplorable condition of the road further contributed to these challenges, encouraging abuse and illegal movements, particularly by motorists and street traders. Our decision to embark on the reconstruction of this strategic road is in line with our Urban Renewal Project, which is aimed at salvaging the City of Owerri from the looming threat of economic stagnation and reversing the gradual decline in urban development and growth. Beyond restoring critical infrastructure, this intervention seeks to create a more organized, secure, and economically vibrant city, and during my inspection of the project site, I could literally feel the fresh air of relief breathed by residents and users of the road, expressing their appreciation for the transformative impact of our Urban Renewal Projects. The quality and pace of work observed are consistent with the expectations of the Government, and I am pleased that progress remains on track for completion within the contractual timeline. - Hope Uzodimma

During my visit to Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), Orlu, I was deeply moved by the dedication of the medical personnel and the resilience of the patients. It was heartwarming to witness the remarkable recovery rate of those receiving treatment, a testament to the hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare. In recognition of these efforts and to ease the burden on patients and their families, the State Government will clear all outstanding medical bills of the patients, a move which reflects our commitment to the well-being of our people. - Hope Uzodimma

Ahead of the commencement of our party’s Primary Elections, I convened a stakeholders’ meeting with all aspirants, the party leadership in the State, party leaders, and other critical stakeholders, where we harmonized strategies and addressed the realities necessary for the successful conduct of the exercise. In my remarks, I strongly admonished against the “do or die” approach to the primaries, emphasizing that the process must remain peaceful, transparent, and driven by the overall interest of the party. I reminded all aspirants that, inevitably, only one candidate will emerge for each available position, and as loyal party members, we must unite behind whoever emerges victorious. I further reiterated that zoning remains a vital practice adopted to ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and true democratic representation. It is, therefore, in the best interest of all stakeholders that we respect and abide by the zoning arrangement in our various constituencies, as it gives every group a sense of belonging and strengthens unity within the party. Consequently, I advised aspirants whose ambitions run contrary to the established zoning framework to respect the arrangement in the collective interest of peace, equity, and party cohesion. - Hope Uzodimma

In light of recent developments in Rivers State, I commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his decisive leadership in declaring a State of Emergency to forestall further escalations in the oil-rich State. This proactive measure reflects a deep commitment to the stability, security, and well-being of the good people of Rivers State and, by extension, Nigeria. Equally commendable is the swift response of the National Assembly in ratifying the President’s proclamation, reinforcing the nation’s collective resolve to uphold democracy. This action is a clear indication that Nigerians desire peace, stability, and responsible governance, particularly in times of crisis. Furthermore, the appointment of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the Sole Administrator is a strategic decision that will provide the necessary platform and atmosphere for peace to be restored. His wealth of experience and disciplined leadership will undoubtedly facilitate the return of normalcy, ensuring that governance and development continue unhindered. As stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic stability, my colleagues and I fully support Mr. President’s timely intervention. The development of the South East region is a mission we are eager to embark on with renewed vigour, recognizing the immense potential that lies within our land and people. This sense of urgency was glaring when I hosted the management team of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), lead by the Chairman; Dr. Emeka Nworgu and the MD/CEO; Hon. Mark Okoye, who visited on a familiarization tour. Their passion and clear commitment to the task ahead were evident, and it further reinforced my belief that we are indeed poised for a transformative journey. I must commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership in assenting to the bill establishing the SEDC, a bill we have collectively championed for years. With this legal framework now in place, the responsibility of driving the comprehensive development our region yearns for rests squarely on the Commission. I urged the Commission to carry out this responsibility with dedication, knowing that our people’s expectations are high. I received the management of the ANOH Gas Processing Plant as they prepare to commence operations. This moment marks a new chapter in our collective pursuit of economic transformation in Imo State. The commissioning of the project by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was not just ceremonial - it was a defining milestone in our vision to industrialize and energize our dear State. I am particularly delighted that of the two ANOH gas processing plants, the Seplat-operated facility has now been completed and is ready to begin operations. This achievement signals immense progress and promises to catalyze economic growth, job creation, and increased investment opportunities across Imo. The significance of this project cannot be overstated. It is a strategic pillar in repositioning Imo as an energy hub, with far-reaching impact on our economy and the well-being of our people. While commending Mr. President for his support and applauding the ANOH Gas Management Team for their commitment, I assured the Team of our full cooperation and support in Imo State. - Hope Uzodimma

I was joined by my wife Chief Barr. (Dr.) Chioma Uzodimma Chioma Uzodimma, as I presented myself before God Almighty at the Government House Chapel, Owerri, in sincere thanksgiving for His boundless love and magnanimity upon my life. A significant highlight of the Holy Mass was the reception of the Apostolic Blessing from His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, upon me, my wife, and our family, and by extension, upon the good people of Imo State. My wife and I, together with our family, are deeply delighted and spiritually uplifted by this gracious blessing, and we pray that God continues to strengthen the Holy Father and sustain him in wisdom and good health. In my message after the Holy Mass, I prayed that as I continue to deliver the dividends of good governance to our people, may I consistently enjoy your support - a support that inspires and propels me to do even more for the progress and wellbeing of our beloved Imo State. - Hope Uzodimma

As a nation, we have faced challenges of multiple taxation and overlapping tax collection by various agencies, creating inefficiencies in the system. This has given rise to the Tax Reform bill carefully drafted to address these issues, aiming to streamline our tax regime for better economic growth and public welfare. Given that it is an Executive Bill, it is important that we approach it with seriousness, objectivity and not to be trivialized. Instead, it must be studied thoroughly to understand its intentions and areas of potential impact, and where necessary, objections or suggestions can be raised for review to ensure the bill serves the public's best interest. It is crucial that we do not politicize the bill because it is for the collective good of the nation, not for the interest of any individual. - Hope Uzodimma

I promptly thanked God for His goodness and dedicated this win to Him, with a Thanksgiving Mass yesterday, and the people of Imo State. I appreciate every vote from all 27 Local Government Areas, a testament to my administration's achievements. To stakeholders, including youths, women, traders and workers' unions, I renew my commitment to honest service. Your endorsement encourages me to do more and I promise continued transparent, accountable and transformative leadership under our 3R mantra.
