Remember when Brandon Johnson sued Kia and Hyundai over car thefts? Now Springfield is coming after the gun makers. State Sen. Robert Peters introduced the Responsibility in Firearm Legislation Act (RIFL). It would require manufacturers to buy an Illinois license and pay a fee whenever their guns are found at a homicide, suicide, or shooting. A manufacturer that skips the license can be fined up to $1 million a month. A dealer who sells one of those guns can be fined $10,000. Peters: “If you don’t want to be stuck with a financial burden as a manufacturer, then make sure what you’re manufacturing isn’t going to be showing up at a murder scene.” Accountability, Illinois style: Blame anyone but the one who did it.

Would it even be St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago without a drunken alley brawl?

Downstate Illinois is done being ruled by Chicago and Cook County. 33 counties have already voted to explore breaking away from the state, and 7 more will vote this November. They are sick of policies dictated by one region while the rest of Illinois gets ignored. Over 100,000 residents have already fled since JB Pritzker took office. Even Indiana is now looking to absorb some of these counties. Pritzker’s solution? Get up and move if you do not like it here.

Last Sunday, a woman went for an early morning jog on the 606 Trail in Logan Square, Chicago with her husband. He pulled ahead. 56-year-old predator Ricardo Colon attacked from behind. He put her in a chokehold, threw her down, and groped her. She fought back. Neighbors with an aluminum bat stepped in and held the predator until police arrived. Colon told cops he gets the urge to grab women’s butts on the trail. His words: “Why are women showing it if they aren’t going to give it?” Same guy did the exact same thing to his wife in a 2001 domestic battery case in an alley along the 606. This is JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson’s Chicago. Repeat predators prey on women on public trails while the system forces civilians to stop them. Crime is down, they say. Tell that to the women who can’t even jog anymore.

JUST IN: 15 people held at gunpoint in Chicago’s trendy River North, Streeterville, and Lakeview over recent weeks. Robbers forced cash app transfers, stole phones, kidnapped some in a black BMW, and drained accounts on the spot. Right on cue, one stunned local says: “I mean, this is supposed to be a safe area.” Meanwhile, Mayor Brandon Johnson brags that last summer was Chicago’s safest in 60 years while rolling out his new 2026 Summer Safety Plan of youth jobs and safe spaces. Nothing to see here, Chicago. Our “safe areas” clearly just need more investments.

Illinois just discovered its emergency management agency spent $78.5 million on standby pay for contractors who were available but not working. Nearly 470,000 hours in total. $7.5 million of it went to 270 contractors who never performed any actual work at all. The agency never calculated how many people it needed. Instead, the vendor set the headcount and the state simply paid the invoices. Real oversight barely existed. All of this happened under Governor Pritzker, who has raised taxes and fees on Illinoisans more than 50 times. Taxpayers keep getting squeezed for more revenue, while the state spends without restraint. The auditor general only surfaced these numbers years later, and the people who allowed it are still running the show. Zero accountability. Classic Illinois. H/T Mark Hespen

Ten people were shot at a late-night gathering in Washington Park just before midnight. A 35-year-old man is dead. Police were already on scene when it started. UChicago’s trauma center overflowed and other hospitals had to take the rest. It was Chicago’s second-largest shooting of the year. Cops detained someone and recovered a gun. Witnesses still told police they saw someone leave with an AR-15. Pritzker already banned selling those rifles in Illinois. Three weeks ago, Brandon Johnson stood in that same park celebrating art that would “strengthen communities.” He has also called law enforcement a “sickness.” This is the result.

After 78 years in Chicago, True Value’s HQ is bolting to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Pritzker called Indiana a low-wage state that isn’t attractive to anyone. Hundreds of jobs just chose Indiana over his Illinois anyway. Another one fleeing his sky-high taxes and endless regulations. How many more will leave before JB Pritzker admits his policies are the problem?

Chicago Public Schools banned teacher Mario Garcia in 2005 for having sex with a 14-year-old student inside his classroom. He was already on the permanent no-hire list when West Chicago hired him last year to teach third grade. Garcia lied on the application and said he had never been fired, yet no one bothered with a real background check. Now in 2026, he faces charges for assaulting five more kids under the age of 13. All because schools and administrators are just too “inundated” to run a ten-second Google search.

Latin Kings flash guns in broad daylight in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood. Ald. Jeylu Gutierrez’s odd compassion for criminals has enabled violent gang members to devastate her ward with impunity. Gutierrez’s ward is overrun with gangs and it’s threatening the stability of the neighborhood.

Jimmy Kimmel had JB Pritzker strap on a tactical vest to mock “war-torn Chicago” on his show. He turned real concerns about crime into cheap jokes about the Brewers attacking the Cubs, ketchup on hot dogs, and shallow deep dish pizza. Five months later, 18-year-old Loyola student Sheridan Gorman was brutally murdered near campus. This is the same Jimmy Kimmel who told Melania Trump she has the glow of an expectant widow. He keeps turning crime, violence, and death into punchlines. This isn’t comedy. It’s sick and dangerous. Fire Jimmy Kimmel.

A Biden-appointed federal judge just blocked Illinois’ Prescription Drug Affordability Act for conflicting with federal law. That is the bill Pritzker signed in 2025. It does not cut drug prices. It piles new reporting mandates on pharmacy benefit managers and anyone the state brands a predatory middleman, forcing them to file the “true cost” of drugs with the Department of Insurance and flag cheaper options. The state gets more paperwork. They called it consumer protection. It still had to get past ERISA, the federal statute that already governs employee health plans. States do not get to rewrite how those plans run. The new reports go to the core of plan administration, break national uniformity, and raise the odds of higher premiums and cost-sharing. While the judge does not deny that high drug prices are a real problem, a 50-year-old federal statute still wins. Pritzker says Illinois follows the law. Reality, as usual, says otherwise. Illinois taxes farms worth over $4 million when the owner dies. The federal estate tax starts at $15 million. This is how Pritzker fights for farmers. Land at $20,000 an acre and a million-dollar combine can easily put a family farm over $4 million, and the kids are forced to sell it to pay the tax. At a Woodford County Farm Bureau meeting, 200 farmers told Senator Turner this is their number one issue. One already lived it and said it devastated them. Veto session is in November. Keep the farm in the family. H/T Mark Hespen
