Downstate Illinois is done being ruled by Chicago and Cook County. 33 counties have already voted to explore breaking away from the state, and 7 more will vote this November. They are sick of policies dictated by one region while the rest of Illinois gets ignored. Over 100,000 residents have already fled since JB Pritzker took office. Even Indiana is now looking to absorb some of these counties. Pritzker’s solution? Get up and move if you do not like it here.

Last Sunday, a woman went for an early morning jog on the 606 Trail in Logan Square, Chicago with her husband. He pulled ahead. 56-year-old predator Ricardo Colon attacked from behind. He put her in a chokehold, threw her down, and groped her. She fought back. Neighbors with an aluminum bat stepped in and held the predator until police arrived. Colon told cops he gets the urge to grab women’s butts on the trail. His words: “Why are women showing it if they aren’t going to give it?” Same guy did the exact same thing to his wife in a 2001 domestic battery case in an alley along the 606. This is JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson’s Chicago. Repeat predators prey on women on public trails while the system forces civilians to stop them. Crime is down, they say. Tell that to the women who can’t even jog anymore.

After 78 years in Chicago, True Value’s HQ is bolting to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Pritzker called Indiana a low-wage state that isn’t attractive to anyone. Hundreds of jobs just chose Indiana over his Illinois anyway. Another one fleeing his sky-high taxes and endless regulations. In East St. Louis, Illinois, two ‘love-struck’ teens murdered five of their relatives because the family said a 15-year-old was too young to be in the relationship. They stole her mother’s gun and executed her grandmother, aunt, and siblings. Pritzker’s new Safe Gun Storage Act requires guns to be locked up so minors can’t access them, but a 15-year-old still took her mother’s gun and slaughtered her own family. The 16-year-old faces five counts of first-degree murder and more as an adult. The 15-year-old needs to be charged as an adult too. Teens who commit brutal crimes must face adult consequences.

JUST IN: 15 people held at gunpoint in Chicago’s trendy River North, Streeterville, and Lakeview over recent weeks. Robbers forced cash app transfers, stole phones, kidnapped some in a black BMW, and drained accounts on the spot. Right on cue, one stunned local says: “I mean, this is supposed to be a safe area.” Meanwhile, Mayor Brandon Johnson brags that last summer was Chicago’s safest in 60 years while rolling out his new 2026 Summer Safety Plan of youth jobs and safe spaces. Nothing to see here, Chicago. Our “safe areas” clearly just need more investments.

Illinois has had three straight years of population growth, but is still down nearly 76,000 residents since 2020. The under 20 population dropped 7%, three times faster than the national rate, with nearly 80,000 kids under five gone. Most of the growth is from illegal immigration while families continue to flee high taxes, crime, and failing schools. Pritzker calls the population growth a success. Illinois taxpayers are about to get hit again. The Illinois Tollway is proposing about 45¢ extra per toll starting January 2027. First passenger increase since 2012. Commercial vehicles get slammed with a 30% hike. Pritzker already raised gas taxes with automatic annual increases built in, conveniently paused during election years. Now tolls get their turn too. All to fund their $26.5B “Driving Connections” plan through 2042. More increases every two years after that. Pritzker never met a tax hike he didn’t like. But don’t worry, the budget is balanced.

He turned real concerns about crime into cheap jokes about the Brewers attacking the Cubs, ketchup on hot dogs, and shallow deep dish pizza. Early this morning in River North, a white SUV pulled up on LaSalle and opened fire on a 32-year-old man during a robbery. He’s in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial. No arrests. The city keeps touting River North as one of Chicago’s premier destinations for dining, nightlife, and tourism. In reality, armed crews treat these streets like it’s open season.
