Former ABS-CBN CEO: ‘Doing the right thing can cost your business.’ Actress and business executive Charo Santos-Concio, former president and CEO of ABS-CBN Corp., delivered the message as a guest speaker at the 78th anniversary event of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) on Jan. 19, 2026. “And as leaders, many of you know this truth intimately. Leechiu: Corruption is holding back confidence “It is a question of confidence,” said Leechiu Property Consultants founder David Leechiu. The real estate industry veteran said restoring that confidence starts with addressing governance: “A big chunk of how disheartened people are today is because of corruption. If we are able to bring corruption down to some less scandalous level, that would dramatically equate to increased confidence.” Beyond tackling corruption, Leechiu said the country also needs stronger leadership. “If we are able to attract credible people, sensible people, more people like Frederick Go, even if there’s only one Frederick Go, then we would be able to bring better policies. And those sets of policies will translate to lower country risk, which would then translate to lower long-term interest rates.”

“Let’s not think that we’ve got to build a Changi.” Cebu Pacific CEO Michael B. Szucs made the remark at the Aviation Leadership Summit during the Singapore Airshow on Feb. 3, speaking alongside Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, and Leslie Thng, CEO of Scoot. He said the Philippines should prioritize practical infrastructure—especially longer runways— instead of expensive showcase terminals. Szucs argued that longer runways would allow larger jets to operate in provincial airports, carrying more passengers and bringing fares down. “The airlines will come, then the tourists will come, and it will be great for everyone all around,” he said.
