Happy 91st birthday to the outrageously talented Anne Reid, seen here delivering one of sitcom-land’s finest ever lines, as written by her friend, Victoria Wood. Good morning.

The Fish Slapping Dance was filmed at Teddington Lock in 1971 (broadcast in 1972) and is credited as being the sketch that made Monty Python internationally popular. ‘It works anywhere on the planet,’ Michael Palin said many years later. ‘Even North Korea’. Good evening.

Happy St Patrick's Day. Or not, as the case may be.

This has to be one of the most repeated Morecambe and Wise one liners ever. In fact, I've lost count of the amount of times I've used it, much to the, at first amusement and more recently embarrassment of my offspring😁

13 seconds of your time is all I ask. I promise you won't regret it. Good evening.

How about something quick and cruel from series four of Hale and Pace. I know, Hale and Pace! How common. Good day to you.

The much missed bona fide national treasure, Dame June Whitfield was born 100 years ago today. She came to prominence way back in 1953 while appearing in the hugely popular radio show, Take it From Here, alongside Jimmy Edwards and Dick Bentley. From there her career went from strength to strength and by the time she appeared in Hancock's Half Hour as the nurse in the legendary episode, The Blood Donor, she'd been a household name for a number of years. Seriously, I cannot think of a more versatile actor than June Whitfield. Her Miss Marple, which she did for BBC Radio, is absolutely superb and I listen to it often. I had the pleasure of interviewing her about a year before she died. The subject was Kenneth Connor, who she knew and had worked with on several occasions (most notably in Carry On Abroad) and, just as you'd expect, she was charming and generous with her time. Anyway, I thought I'd post a quick blast from Ab Fab. It's a great line, beautifully delivered. God bless June Whitfield x

The mighty Bernard Cribbins would have been 96 today. Actor, entertainer, storyteller par excellence, angler, bona fide national treasure, double Dr Who companion (!) and the nicest person you could ever wish to sit down and help write an autobiography. God bless him!

Thirty years ago today Kenny Everett passed away. He was the subject of my third biography and I still adore him. As his first love was radio, I've decided to post an introduction he made and used for his shows which you might recognise. God bless Kenny x

Barbara Windsor would have been 88 today, God bless her. As she’s probably best remembered as being part of the terrifically talented ensemble of Carry On actors, I thought I’d post her first scene in her first ever Carry On film, which was Carry On Spying. God bless Barbara!
