Moises Ballesteros

I'm really liking watching the ABS challenge system. This was an egregiously bad call, but it was easily corrected within seconds.

Here's the play at the plate with Zach Neto

Here's the overhead view so you can see just what happened with Moisés Ballesteros there.

I know they never actually rule that a hitter didn't try to get out of the way, but c'mon.

Logan O'Hoppe left the game after this play.

Outfield coach Bo Porter had an animated conversation with Taylor Ward before he even got back into the dugout after this. Certainly looked like he could have charged it a little more aggressively and held the runner at 3B or had a chance to throw him out.

I'm not going to show you Nolan Schanuel's game-tying single. Here's this instead. It's 3-3 in the 7th.

Here's how Chase Silseth preserved the tie in the 10th

The Cubs scored the first run of the game on this play, which seemed to be a bad call. The Angels tried to challenge, but for some reason the umpires didn't allow it. Maybe they took too long? It's 2-0 now in the 3rd.

I'm sure Zach Neto would like this one back.

This was a 30.2 ft/sec for Mike Trout, the fastest he's run all year.

Ray Montgomery got ejected after this

Jo Adell has robbed a few other HRs, but off the top of my head I'm calling this the best catch of his career. (Maybe I'm forgetting one.)

Yoan Moncada hit 28.9 ft/sec here to score from first on this play. That's his second fastest time of the year. (For reference, that's faster than any of Zach Neto's runs all season.) The Angels are now up 7-3 going to the 8th.

Here's another angle of the Neto play. It's still Angels 7-3, top 8.

Grayson Rodriguez and Alek Manoah throwing bullpens.

Here's a good look at the play from the 1st inning. I'll let you umpires out there decide if the Marlins 3B coach "physically assists (the runner) in returning to or leaving third base or first base." Rule 6.01 (a)(8) Angels now down 3-2 in the 3rd

So, on a suicide squeeze, if the hitter can get the ball on the ground in play, it's basically impossible for the defense to stop the run from scoring. Unless you do this.

Scary scene here in Houston. Hopefully Taylor Ward is OK. (Just last night after the game, he and Jo Adell were talking about how dangerous it can be to hit that that out of town scoreboard wrong.)

I am strongly in favor of the intentional dropped pop up. There's almost zero risk and occasionally you'll catch a runner not knowing the rules. (Probably better if you can trick the runner into thinking you did it by accident.) Angels down 1-0.

Mike Trout was running at essentially his best sprint speed of the season, and was thrown out at the plate. A pretty nice throw.

This was a 92 mph fastball, and it was Detmers' last pitch of the day.

For some reason, Yoan Moncada tried to tag the runner instead of just keeping his foot on the bag, which would have been an inning-ending DP. The next batter hit a 2-run single. The Angels are down 6-0 in the 3rd.

The Angels should have been out of the inning. This loaded the bases for Shohei Ohtani, who then drove in two runs. The Angels are down 4-0 in the 4th.

I don't think Trout needs to hit 5th any more.

"Mike Trout always takes the first pitch so I'm just gonna chuck this 92 mph cutter over the mid...."

This is the 12th error of the season for Zach Neto, which is one more than he had all of last year. The next two batters hit HRs. The Angels' lead went from 6-1 to 6-5 in the 6th

Jo Adell's bat gave its life to get the Angels an insurance run.

I'm torn between thinking Campero should not have even tried for third here and just thinking it's 2 absolutely perfect throws by the White Sox and d'Arnaud isn't fast enough. In any case, Angels down 4-3, top 8.

Zach Neto again. (He's playing SS today also.)

This is how the Angels take the lead in the 8th

You can see here that Bo Porter was holding Yoan Moncada at 3rd all the way. Jorge Soler never slowed down coming around 2nd. Angels got nothing out of this. Still up 2-1, after 3.
