Okay let's chill with the revisionist history Cyberpunk on launch was downright unplayable. A straight scam. It singlehandedly ruined CDPR's perfect reputation and was an unplayable buggy mess. NOW after years of fixes, updates and dlc it's a masterpiece. It wasn't always.

It's actually kind of insane how they managed to fit a hacking puzzle (that's usually hated in most games even in a vacuum) and fit it into moment to moment combat. Not only does it work but it somehow doesn't slow the pace of gameplay as much as you'd think. Combat is still fast as shit and you're constantly jumping or boosting around and there's strategy to the hacking too. Low-key it feels like a more complete version of what 9S's combat should've been in Automata.

Replaying Reach for the first time in a few years and nah man this is pure cinema. The cinematography the atmosphere seeing all the dead civilians and being ambushed by suicidal grunts. Reach really knows how to set the tone the situation has never felt more dire.

Reach is so good at making you feel shit man. No words, just Noble 6 in a Falcon looking over his destroyed world. Then that line with Carter "It's good to have you back" - "Sorry I came alone." You can tell through the body language and tone that while these guys might be emotionally repressed and hardened soldiers losing a friend still hits for them, but for the sake of others they can't afford to lose their composure. Reach's portrayal of war is so perfect Cat was a Spartan, super-human with countless battles under her belt and probably killed thousands of Covenant single-handedly and all it took was for her to drop her guard once and a bit of bad luck and boom, dead. Completely unceremonious, no heroic blaze of glory just sniped mid-sentence. You don't even need any of the Spartan's to say anything, the way Noble 6 grabs her magnum and instantly starts firing along with everyone else like their IMMEDIATE instinct was to get back for their girl. The final shot at the end of a burning New Alexandria with Carter carrying Cat's body while the music kicks in, no words needed to be said an no faces had to be shown, you know exactly how these guys are feeling. This animation being from 2008 is actually insane. One thing I love about Ufo is how they keep their characters mostly on model. People who say Ufotable relies on VFX are straight lying. I don't really like the recent trend of extreme squash/stretch in anime lately. (like Sukuna VS Mahoraga)
