We want people to have the freedom to move to a better job and help our most promising businesses grow. Today, the PM announced we will legislate against non-compete clauses, so they no longer hold back workers or stand in the way of startups hiring the talent they need. We’ll also bring forward options to tackle wider restrictive practices, like excessive notice periods. We have to empower the people taking risks to build something, giving them the freedom to start and scale.

British founders tell me it's too hard to buy from govt, too hard to scale in Britain. Today, we are moving fast to fix it 🇬🇧 The Chancellor, John Healey, has announced Sovereign AI’s £100m rapid AI R&D procurement. If you're a founder in Britain, come build -- we will be on your side, and we will move quickly. We are starting by asking our founders to take on four national challenges: an NHS with more time for patient care; defence that keeps Britain safe; compute that means British AI strength; and ideas that keep our country cyber resilient.

Last week, my team gave me the most meaningful surprise: seeing my old Welsh teacher after 25 years. When we moved to Wales, we received a Welsh welcome: Mr Thomas’ kind belief, a nation growing economically, a community whose confident identity wrapped around us so warmly. Ahead of the most divisive Senedd elections in our history, the Wales that made me feels less certain. My hope: that we can return that same kindness to the centre of our national story.
