We want people to have the freedom to move to a better job and help our most promising businesses grow. Today, the PM announced we will legislate against non-compete clauses, so they no longer hold back workers or stand in the way of startups hiring the talent they need. We’ll also bring forward options to tackle wider restrictive practices, like excessive notice periods. We have to empower the people taking risks to build something, giving them the freedom to start and scale.

With urgency, ambition, and with British values at heart, we will shape the future of AI in Britain’s national interest.

British founders tell me it's too hard to buy from govt, too hard to scale in Britain. Today, we are moving fast to fix it 🇬🇧 The Chancellor, John Healey, has announced Sovereign AI’s £100m rapid AI R&D procurement. If you're a founder in Britain, come build -- we will be on your side, and we will move quickly. We are starting by asking our founders to take on four national challenges: an NHS with more time for patient care; defence that keeps Britain safe; compute that means British AI strength; and ideas that keep our country cyber resilient.

Some politicians love to talk the UK down, but UK AI & Tech is moving at 100mph! Time to shift the narrative - so last night I started building a scrappy real-time dashboard to track the UK AI story: The code’s on my GitHub if you want to help build it out :) (Shot on my iPhone: Zero polish but maximum energy!)

Too often, British entrepreneurs find the door of government procurement shut to them. We are opening those doors to put British jobs first 🇬🇧

Last week, my team gave me the most meaningful surprise: seeing my old Welsh teacher after 25 years. When we moved to Wales, we received a Welsh welcome: Mr Thomas’ kind belief, a nation growing economically, a community whose confident identity wrapped around us so warmly. Ahead of the most divisive Senedd elections in our history, the Wales that made me feels less certain. My hope: that we can return that same kindness to the centre of our national story.

Reform’s billionaire backers in the media and in Thailand won’t want you to know this: We don’t have to choose between protecting our kids from child abuse and preserving personal privacy. Reject that helplessness. British ingenuity is better than that 🇬🇧

We have a clear choice in our politics. On one side: bereaved families, parents, carers, young people in Britain. On the other: a foreign trillionaire. We will always choose British families’ best interest.

Our vision for a distinctly British AI story is bigger than the disgusting use X continues to allow through Grok. Those who share our vision of AI transformation must call this out - so we build public trust in our vision of the future.
