Cute demon dinosaur Baragon. Who was created when the movie as a replacement for Godzilla who was supposed to fight Frankenstein. The reason for this change is unclear but I think it may be because after the last movie it was too late to depict Godzilla as a villain again.

T.rex "cameo" in First Man (2018). This movie deserved a lot more awards than it got, especially for the score but at least it got its Oscar for visual effects. Seems like it's one of the last few categories that rarely gives freebies.

The final epic battle between Frankenstein vs. Baragon. It's hard to believe the initial story treatment was written by Jerry Sohl, a sci-fi writer who worked on Star Trek, The Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. Supposedly, he even visited the set but I have no photos.

I don't share Eiji Tsuburaya's love for fights between large humanoids and animalistic monsters that influenced his later projects but I do enjoy Baragon for being more than just Godzilla's backup. Like the way he jumps.

King Ghidorah's awakening. A very effective scene played completely straight which likely explains why, in contrast, scenes with Godzilla and Rodan are often comedic. As always I have to point out it's a probable influence for the awakening of Majin Buu in Dragon Ball.

Forgive the incoming info dump but it seems that this 1954 movie has more behind the scenes footage than most movies today. Part 1 of how they made the squid scene. First they filmed it in broad daylight and the squid was a catastrophe.

The scene that serves as a reference to Godzilla's entrance in 1954 movie. Akira Ifukube didn't want any music in this scene but Ishiro Honda disagreed. This Godzilla isn't scary and looks loveable but doesn't have any of the qualities that will make him change in the future.

Koji Furuhata is pretty good as Frankenstein (name of the monster this time). It's a shame that like many Showa era actors he completely disappeared from history. There are some myths about him such as that he was an amateur or that he was deaf-mute (he talked in other films).
