I moved three Bills in the Lok Sabha today . 1. To Provide for a five term for the Mayor , Senior Deputy Mayor , Deputy Mayor of Chandigarh to be directly elected by all the electors of Chandigarh and matters connected with and incidental therto . 2. To Amend the Anti Defection Law -10 th Schedule so that democracy may be resuscitated in Legislative institutions and conscience , common sense and Constituency can once again prevail. I had earlier moved this bill in Lok Sabha in 2010 , 2021 & now again in 2025 3. To Amend the Hindu Marriage Act - 1955

Speaking at the Winter Session of the Lok Sabha on the issue of Election Reforms, harked back to the time our Constitutional founding fathers foresaw the need for different elections for different states at different times, also suggesting that the first and foremost reform that should be introduced should be adding of two more members in the selection committee of the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections. Also proposed that the Election Commission must disclose the reasons for conducting SIR in order for the Parliament to understand what electoral issues are being encountered, apart from disclosing who has the source code for the EVMs to dispel the possibility of them being compromised. Also that Cash Transfers by Government’s on the eve of elections must be proscribed and the Anti Defection Law should be modified to bring Democracy back to the legislatures Watch me speak on these issues and more:

A Member alluded to the fact that the 9 th Schedule was inserted into the Constitution to provide protection to dodgy laws. Had to set the record straight that the 9 th Schedule was inserted to provide protection to the most revolutionary step in the past 75 years i.e . Land Reforms laws that were being struck down by conservative courts. Please read Shankari Prasad vs Union of India
