Today, I visited Westmoreland to see the devastation from Hurricane Melissa and got a 1st hand look at Darliston, Whitehouse, Friendship, and Grange Hill. MPs Ian Hayles and Dr. Dr Dayton Campbell joined me as we made a stop in each of their constituencies to speak with residents and see how best we can assist in the shortest amount of time. I pledge my continued support for affected families and a unified recovery effort. We all have to come together in the effort to rebuild our country. 🇯🇲

We’re tackling the housing crisis with bold, practical plans to help young people and informal workers become homeowners: - $1 Billion Young Owners Deposit Fund Young people under 35 who’ve contributed to the NHT for 2+ years will be eligible for a $500,000 grant toward their house deposit. - NHT Rent-to-Own for the Informal Sector Persons earning in the informal economy can rent NHT homes while building equity toward ownership. - A portion of rent (50-75%) will go toward the deposit - Once accumulated, they can access a mortgage to buy the home We’re removing the barriers and opening the doors to homeownership. It’s time for real solutions. It’s time to build a Jamaica that is accessible to everyone - not just a few. #TimeCome #ChampioningChange

Good Morning, Jamaica. I want to speak directly to every Jamaican here at home and across the diaspora who has opened their hearts, their homes, and their hands over the past three weeks. From the volunteers who cleared debris, to the farmers who have begun replanting so we can eat, the doctors and nurses who gave their time, the churches, our local suppliers and distributors, NGOs, and Jamaican citizens famous and not who donated food, water, and supplies your generosity has been the lifeline of our early recovery. To our Jamaicans abroad, thank you for the funds, the medical kits, the relief supplies, the barrels and the prayers that have crossed the Caribbean Sea to reach us. Your support has shown the world the true meaning of ‘One Love, One Heart.’ The spirit of unity we’ve witnessed is not just appreciated it is exactly what we need to rebuild stronger and more resilient. Together, we can turn tragedy into hope, and together we will rise again. I wanted to stop and say Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. The word is love! #JamaicaStrong

No Jamaican should be locked out of their own shores. Our beaches are not just for tourists, they’re for our families, our fisherfolk, our communities. The next PNP government will stand up for public beach access and protect what rightfully belongs to the people. #PeopleTimeCome #Championingchange

Let’s talk about the importance of transparency and accountability in government. Concerns about recent appointments, including the elevation of an individual closely tied to the Prime Minister to a critical Permanent Secretary role, raise questions about continued cronyism in this Administration. I also question the lack of clarity from Minister Daryl Vaz on the source of the additional $200M that was initially given as the remaining amount needed to restore power to Jamaicans still in the dark. Accountability is paramount now more than ever. #GoodGovernanceMatters

So the question is why would more senior and better paid bank employees be exempt from taxes but hourly paid workers have to pay taxes? Minister Fayval Williams said it has something to do with filing a tax return. We need her to explain that because if they’re exempt I don’t know why they’d be filing unless they had other sources of income. We need answers. Something isn’t right. #PeopleTimeCome

Thank you, Natalie Neita Garvey, for joining me in singing one of my favourite Christmas carols, O Holy Night. It was such a joy to perform this beautiful duet with you! We hope you will enjoy it as we did. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas filled with love, peace, and endless joy!

Today I wanted to weigh in on the proposed Special Consumption Tax (SCT) on sweetened beverages, pushing back against claims that it’s a public health measure. “Let’s be honest about what this tax is really about.” While sugar consumption and chronic illness are real concerns, the structure of this tax tells a different story: ➡️ The tax is based on container size, not sugar content ➡️ It does not encourage manufacturers to reduce sugar ➡️ Government expects to collect $10.1B, signalling prices will rise but consumption may not fall ➡️ The burden will fall heaviest on lower-income Jamaicans At a time when many are already struggling, especially in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, policies must ease pressure, not deepen it. This isn’t about health. It’s about revenue. Stop trying to “sugar coat” this tax measure. Jamaicans deserve honesty, transparency and fairness.

I have directly asked all of our Members of Parliament and Senators, and they have each confirmed that none of them is aware of any investigation by the Integrity Commission into their affairs. I now look forward to the Prime Minister doing the same, as we strive for transparent and decent leadership. #JamaicaTimeCome

The next PNP Jamaica government will create a special $1 billion Young Owners Deposit Fund within the NHT. This will allow young people under 35, who have contributed to the NHT for at least 2 years, to access a $500,000 deposit grant. Young Jamaicans will now have the opportunity to apply for this grant and take a step closer to owning their homes! #ChampioningChange #BudgetDebate2024 #PeopleTimeCome

Good Morning Jamaica 🇯🇲 I wanted to tell each and every one of you thank you for the amazing support, love and energy we all shared yesterday. In person and online. Today I also want to thank my children, I’ve been so blessed with 3 wonderful, unique and loving children who never asked for this journey into politics but have had my back all the way. My son Ben narrated this video that so many of you have asked me to share and my beautiful daughters Jessica and Tasmin also contributed to it. It was a wonderful surprise. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The Word Is LOVE!

I note Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s remarks in a TV interview this morning. Neither he nor his Party has made those proposals as part of the process of constitutional reform. His proposals are therefore not in the report of the Constitutional Reform Committee, and will not be in the new Constitution coming out of that process. Furthermore, Mr. Holness’s proposals are not in the existing Constitution, and would violate the existing Constitution. This is in keeping with his and his Government’s unfortunate history of past violations of the Constitution of Jamaica. It seems that the Prime Minister wants to make up a rule which is not part of the Constitution or laws of Jamaica, to suit his Party’s political fortune at a time when it is waning. He has no power and no authority to do that. He needs to tell the country why his statutory declarations to the Integrity Commission cannot be certified. I am compliant with the Constitution and laws of Jamaica, and I undertake to the People of Jamaica that I will continue to be so.

This year I would like to share my rendition of "Someday at Christmas." I chose this Stevie Wonder classic because its timeless message of hope, peace, and justice resonates deeply, especially in our country and the wider world today. It is a song that imagines a better future for ALL, and that is a vision I hold close. My sincere thanks to the incredible team at Grafton Studios for their dedication, energy and enthusiasm. To all the talented musicians and singers who poured their hearts into this song I am truly grateful. Your gifts brought this song to life. From my family to yours, I wish you all a peaceful and joyous holiday season. May the new year bring us closer to a Jamaica of harmony we all dream of. The Word is Love.

This government is a photocopy government - in 2021, 2022 and 2023 I called for the complete removal of guarantors for students. In 2024 Nigel Clarke finally implemented it - it shows how good things can happen when the government listens to the opposition. #peopletimecome
