Ever drink water directly from a creek or lake? This is my son, drinking from a little lake in Jasper, on the Chaba trail in 2014. I do it all the time on my hikes. It's the number one topic I get on YouTube. Everyone tells me it's dangerous. That's because most Canadians have never seen the inside of a water pipe in their community. I usually convert about 90% of the folks who come hiking with me. I've never been sick, but I have had upset stomachs. Mostly because of the high dissolved mineral content.

This guy drove up today, and hurled insults at me. I told him he was harassing an Elections Alberta canvasser. He came back, and tried to claim he just wanted a discussion. I told him to move one. Like I said earlier, there is no common demographic of who wants to sign the petition. On the flip side, so far I've had 4 older white male "boomers" go out of their way to insult me. Why?

Looks like they created firebreak within Jasper townsite by completely demolishing buildings. From what we've seen so far, the residential area is gone, but they saved the commercial buildings.

I met a real "Most Alberta Woman" yesterday in Cremona. Her name is Alana Miller. She and her husband are cattle ranchers. She showed up in her SUV, with a small child in the back seat. She was still wearing her work clothes. She was in a mild panic. "Did I miss it? Are you guys closed?" She desperately wanted to sign the petition. She came prepared with 5 documents to prove her identity and her physical address. Everyone there was taken aback by her smile and enthusiasm. She is the future of Alberta, and we all knew it. I asked her if I coud film her, and I'm so glad she agreed.

Update on the Alberta Government's $55.8 million Caribou Habitat Recovery Program to plant five million trees, restore legacy seismic lines, and support long-term woodland caribou recovery across 15 ranges by 2030. I went back to our hunting camp last week, to see what additional damage the government had done during the previous winter, as a result of this program. I was devastated by what we found. What a monumental fuck-up and waste of money.

Last week I hiked along Jasper National Park's south boundary trail. It is one of the most remote trails in all the Mountain parks. This is a very short video showing the LaGrace campground. Note: Park Canada requires that we camp at these designated sites. This is an extremely primitive campsite, with a fire box and nothing more. No bear pole, no outhouse, no picnic table, nothing. I'm fine with that. I stayed here one night. This trail gets used by 2 dozen people per year, if that, and almost no one stays at this campground. A quick check of the latrine pit confirmed that no one else had been here this year. At the 0:12 mark in the video, you can barely see a sign on the tree. It wasn't there last year. I'll show you a detail of the sign in the post below. 1/

You will not lose your Canadian passport in an independent Alberta. That's just pure fear-mongering by the "stay" side because they have no other argument. All they have is fear and nostalgia (for a Canada that basically no longer exists). Canada has fully recognized dual citizenship since 1977. There is no requirement to renounce Canadian citizenship when acquiring another. A Canadian-born person does not lose their citizenship simply because their province leaves Confederation. Canadian law protects citizenship by birth on Canadian soil. Most Albertans have deep family, cultural, and economic connections across Canada. None of those ties will be broken because of independence.

If you haven’t watched it, I recommend you watch Landman. It's a great series about the Texas oil patch created by Taylor Sheridan, the producer of Yellowstone. I love how Americans celebrate their oil industry instead of trying to destroy it, like we do here in Canada. Billy Bob Thornton was born for the role of landman, Tommy Norris. Here he drops a whole bunch of truth bombs about wind energy, and the fact that we have no choice but to keep producing oil. The patch was extremally good to me, and I'm happy that a second generation of my family is going into it as well. You want to put us out of business, stop buying oil, I'm not worried, you won't stop.

This is not quite as epic as Jordan Peterson schooling Cathy Newman in 2018, but it's right up there. Jeff Rath delivers a master class on how to deal with an aggressive journalist. He was on fire, absolutely quick on his feet. That's because he's true to his convictions, and isn't juggling lies in his head. The bit about being a Queen on the chess board was brilliant.
