Yesterday’s post showed Outside Ruby &amp; her papa. All fun and games. She knows he is a good guy. Not the “bad man” that hurt her before. Inside Ruby? This is progress. Slow. But forward. You can see wariness with trust building. Tolerating leads to accepting! Then 💕 ❤️‍🩹

To the brave Ridglan new mums/dads who have never before adopted a rescue dog: I’m a mum of an abused dog. My advice is to be patient. Abandon your expectations and focus on only building safety and trust. Consistency, structure and routines matter. Love them through it all

To Ruby’s former abuser. You suck. This sweet little angel deserved to feel safe, free and joyful to run up and play with her papa after he was gone for 5 days. He deserved it to. But this is huge progress. We did get a tail wag. She hid the rest of the night. Oh well! ❤️‍🩹

When you’re loving a formerly abused pup like our Ruby, it’s important to use safe discipline while allowing some “bad” behaviors to exist. This right here. She is terrified by the newspaper &amp; the sounds. But being able to approach, steal and rip is good. Settles her ANS. ❤️‍🩹

The reality of an abused dog. Something has rattled her. Maybe it’s remnants of the Xfinity stacked trigger event. Or PTSD from her “bad man”. Probably both. Fear she had overcome is now controlling her again. Pray for her please. She needs divine help to help her. ❤️‍🩹🙏🏻🐾

Ruby update. The first couple days have been rough. Big time fears, confusion &amp; uncertainty. Papa is doing his best &amp; is being very patient. Ruby is starting to not dart from him. Our behaviorist had a good visit with Ruby &amp; feels this is good for her and him. Miss her!

So this just happened last night. 11 month in and Papa and “inside” Ruby had a moment on the couch. A first! She was a little cautious but she stayed &amp; he fed her some chicken. And petted her! And “outside” Ruby was running to him, licking his hands with no food! Healing ❤️‍🩹

🏆 9 1/2 months and this! 🏆 This is such a shocking event in our home with Ruby. Never has she ever sat on the couch w/hubby. After 12 nervous tours around our loveseat she finally decided she would jump up. No audio. Didn’t want to change the room energy. HUGE!! ❤️‍🩹🙌🏻

Update on Ruby: We’ve been keeping this quiet but she’s had some medical issues. Intestinal problems with a lot of blood in liquid stools. Awful time. All tests are coming back ok except for platelets. 🥳 Will monitor in case they continue to decline. She’s resting now 🙏🏻❤️‍🩹

Trauma recovery. An update. Ruby was badly hurt by a “man”. We now strongly suspect her nose was regularly hit while being starved with only vegetables to eat. Awful. This right here speaks to her resilience &amp; desire to love hubby some day. This makes our hearts sing! ❤️‍🩹🐾

It would appear our Director of Toy Management Services (aka Ruby) does allow certain toys to remain in the family room. A brand new toy, for example. Not sure what her rationale or business plan is for this situation, but as Director we will follow her lead. Good morning❤️‍🩹
