I am speaking to you from my office at Chief Albert Luthuli House. The President of the African National Congress, who is after all the boss, ordered me to bed. That order expired at six o’clock this morning. I have served my sentence, and I am back at my desk. Many of you saw what happened to me in that courtroom, I had carried something heavy for seven weeks. The thought that people in six municipalities might be handed a ballot paper that did not carry the party they had chosen. That thought sat on my chest every night. When the Court spoke, the weight came off all at once, and the body did what the body does. I am a human being. All of us have a limit, and there is no shame in finding yours. [WATCH] AROUND 150 OUT OF OVER 10 000 CANDIDATES ARE AFFECTED BUT THIS IS STILL SIGNIFICANT AS EVERY CANDIDATE COUNTS. This issue is affecting about 150 out of over 10 000 candidates submitted, but even that number is very significant to the ANC because our communities participated in the selection of those candidates and have a right to vote for them. We also aim to retain the municipalities that we govern and to ensure that we reclaim those that we are not governing. We want to ensure the program of services and transformation continue in South Africa. The ANC is the only party that contests all the wards on a VD by VD basis. Every vote counts for the ANC so this will dent us if we do not take it up. Every municipality counts to ensure us that we fulfill our historical mission
