Yesterday’s moments with Rafif at my friend Yousef’s place were truly some of the most beautiful moments 🤍 Yousef has four lovely cats, and I asked him if we could take one kitten to become Rafif’s new little companion — someone she can play with, care for, and spend joyful moments with 🐾 I’ll never forget the look in the mother cat’s eyes as she was saying goodbye to her kitten… it truly felt like she knew Rafif would take her home. But I promise we will care for her with all the love and tenderness possible, just as I always care for my daughter Rafif. I don’t understand in what world we’re living… or on what planet this could ever be normal. Just a few hours ago, everything was fine. I went out with Rafif and my wife—just a simple outing for Rafif, to lift her spirits and help her cope with her pain and exhaustion. But suddenly, in a single moment… everything changed. The bombing returned, and death returned to the streets of Gaza. This was a photo of Rafif as we were heading to the market… and shortly after, everything turned into fear and unimaginable terror.

This goodbye is one I hate… Today, I left Al-Mawasi and said goodbye to Rafif, leaving her behind in tears. I feared that I might not see her again. I couldn’t take her with me to Khan Younis; we were only going to see the place we may move to. I left, but my body went without my heart—my mind and soul stayed with Rafif. Forgive me, my daughter… Just a few hours, and we will meet again, my little beautiful one 💔

There are people whose hearts are filled with so much hatred that they cannot even tolerate us having the most basic human needs. The moment they see a little girl, not even two years old, holding a piece of chocolate or enjoying something simple, they begin sending toxic messages and cruel words as if happiness is forbidden for us. But what they fail to understand is that we do not share our lives for them. We share them for the many kind people here who genuinely love us, support us, and stand beside us. ❤️ In Gaza, no one is living a normal life. Through your donations and support, we are only able to provide the simplest necessities such as food, clothes, and medicine. More than 85% of families in Gaza survive today by the grace of God and the support of people, because there is no stable income, no jobs, and no real sense of stability here anymore. So we will never stay silent toward those who describe us with lies or try to shame our suffering simply because a little child smiled while holding chocolate or experienced a small moment of joy in the middle of all this devastation. We are not asking for luxury. We are only trying to live with dignity.
