This is my little Cousin who as you can see is overjoyed to be back at her home in Omdurman after being displaced in Eastern Sudan for close to two years. So many external narratives have been superimposed on those in Sudan; at the end of the day it’s mainly just people fighting in whatever way they can to be safe in their own homes. Something that most of us around the world are able to take for granted.

He says we must keep fighting until we get our hands on Khartoum and we sit and rule this country from Khatoum. The RSF is an ethnic militia that seeks to dismantle the Sudanese State and replace it with a state run and dominated by Baggara Arab nomads from both Sudan and neighbouring countries; they have been very clear about their intentions. A while back ago I came across this clip of an Iranian firewoman doing a TikTok trend and it dawned on me just how a single clip can fly in the face of the heavily propagandised orientalist image of Iranian women. Iran is being carped bombed as we speak ostensibly we are told to save its women from oppression; the irony is that many of these Iranian first responders will be women.

There’s this Sudanese teenager on TikTok called Ahmed Sabry who returned to his home in Khartoum City and just posts daily TikTok’s showing life gradually returning to Khartoum and encouraging more people to return. This has really upset the Gahata (Taqqadum) accounts who have been doing their best to discourage people from returning to Khartoum. For Gahata if life can return to Khartoum without an agreement that involves them that invalidates them. They and their militia allies want to believe that they hold the keys to millions of people being able to return; Ahmed Sabry through 30 second TikTok’s is showing that they don’t and it’s why you have these old Gahata men on FB angrily attacking him.
