I'm starting to notice (not just here on X) that some people are confused about Sephiroth's social life. He was never antisocial nor was he asocial when he was young. He wanted to make connections, and so he did socialize whenever it mattered. He's just shy and awkward at times.

Rewatching an old scene from Rebirth, and it just occurred to me that Sephiroth openly and unapologetically told his intention to kill Aerith when she arrived here. "You'll see him soon enough" was pretty much of a warning directly at her when he thought he killed Tseng.
