Lots happening in this clip?… Key takeaways though… We need to let players spend more time on the ball. Too much focus on overloaded practices, rondos and positional play inevitably leads to quick play and Group possession focus type outcomes. Also when do you let your players practice moving at full speed with the ball? This is where ball Mastery comes in and 1v1, 2v2 & 3v3 practices. I say the players I work with all the time. You should be able to move as quickly with the ball as you do without it, but unfortunately most Team sessions the ⚽️becomes like a hot potato.

I’ve been a 1-2-1 coach for over 20 years. I’ve worked with some of the best players in world football. I’ve coached at Chelsea and Spurs, and consulted for Premier League academies including Arsenal and Brighton. And in all that time, I see the same mistake made by 1-2-1 coaches at every level. They don’t link their practices to the game. Every drill, every rep, every session needs to be connected to real game actions — and for older players, position-specific actions. That’s how you get game transference. That’s how what happens in training shows up on match day. Not more drills. Not more volume. The right practices, linked to the right game moments, coached with clarity and purpose. That’s the difference between a session that looks good and a session that actually develops players. Are you making this mistake? 👇 Comment FIX below and I’ll send you exactly how to build game-specific actions into every 1-2-1 session you coach. 🎓

The best players in the 🌍 can get on the ⚽️ and stay on the ⚽️ under pressure… if your sessions and your club/team don’t do this and are all Rondo’s and pass like the ball is a hot 🥔…. Then ask yourself is this really development? #ballmastery #soccerskills #soccertips #rondo

Is there too much passing in Academy Football? Lots of opinions on this…here’s my take 🫡 I think there’s too much emphasis on group possession generally particularly in the younger age groups… We need to focus a bit more on individual possession and encouraging players…

Great 1st day here at AS Monaco’s amazing training ground. Putting Monaco’s Folarin Balogun and QPR’s Elijah Dixon-Bonner through their paces. Working on various shooting and finishing techniques in and around the box. #soccerdrills #balogun #soccertraining #soccerskills

Proud to feature on Sky Sports Antoine Semenyo talking to Jamie Redknapp about our work in the off season and how it’s helped him excel this season. Fortunate to be supporting Semenyo in being one of the most exciting players in World football at the moment
