49ers got to a Y-F Counter a couple of times tonight with more of that sweet, sweet Juszczyk motion.

Great clip of just how hard it is to play QB in the NFL. And a great example of how difficult blitz looks can be to block up, even if the QB nails the protection adjustment. Can hear Dak Prescott adjusting the protection ("Lucky to 5" meaning sliding the line left and the point towards #5 for the Bucs) and even communicating a potential sight adjust ("takes all 3" meaning if all 3 defenders to the OL's right rush, then Ferguson or Lamb would have to adjust their route). Dak gets Lamb in motion, nails the protection adjustment for the Bucs 4 weak pressure, but the looper *still* gets through free. Dak makes him miss, but isn't able to complete the off-script throw.

this is the all-22 angle of 3 Double Cloud if you were curious. It plays like a pre-set, 3-high version of Cover 2. And Seahawks do a nice job of making it look like one of their staple Cover 6 calls. Keys are Thomas and Pritchett at the top and bottom playing as Cloud flat defenders. One of worst coverages for 989 because of, well, exactly what happened.

Another fun cat-and-mouse between Dak/Cowboys and Bowles. Bucs bring the FS (#23) and Mike (#34) on a blitz, but because the Cowboys point is on #45 (the player the OL is accounting for), the two blitzers are both technically the RB's guy. The third time the Cowboys get this look, Dak changes the point to #23 (he's pointing at #45 and #34 to signal a sight adjust if those two do blitz). Tyler Smith is late getting to #23, so Dak is still pressured but makes a play.

One of the teams we discussed on this episode was the Bengals and their offense. Which has started to look and feel like the exact same as Bengals offenses of the past few years. That’s still a mostly good thing! But it still leaves a math issue with how they generate explosives. Especially with their run game designs. I explain more in the clip.

On the last pod, I talked about how the Cowboys defense has been better out of Base personnel this year. Which not only gets beef up front, but it puts Caleb Downs at safety. After breaking that down, I threw out a Joey Porter Jr. trade as a way to improve their Nickel personnel. Which could put Bland back in the slot and keep Downs on the backend. And, welp, here we are!

Broncos subbed late on the Stidham INT in the 4th quarter. It allowed the Patriots to take their time and run their biggest DL on while the ref sat on the football and the clock kept ticking. You can feel the entire operation get hurried. Dots included to show the late subs.
