Also, children of narcissistic parents have to regulate the emotions and protect the parent at a very young age. By adulthood it’s up to the child to not repeat the cycle as the monster or the regulator. My survival mechanism was to embrace all my “mistakes” and “shame” and turn it into comedy. I know these cycles very well it’s why I can spot the narcissistic abuse quickly in people. Many of those children took the path of self righteousness, gas lighting, manipulation, and a refusal to ever accept any responsibility. They became the vampire. The best way to handle them is avoidance and to never feed their sickness. And know that they can never be close to you, you can never trust them, and your health and success will make them seethe I’m in a position where I can publicly out them and get them to expose their inner world to their potential victims.
