Enugu Air is cleared for takeoff. With approval secured from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, regional flights will be commencing from Enugu, with aircraft ready to connect our people to more opportunities. Before the end of this year, Enugu Air will begin international flights, opening our doors wider to the world. We are building a system where movement in and out of Enugu is seamless, efficient, and reliable. This is a key part of our broader vision to position Enugu as a global destination, attracting over 3 million visitors and creating new pathways for business, tourism, and growth. One of our signature projects in the healthcare sector is the Enugu International Hospital, a 300-bed ultramodern facility being developed to strengthen access to quality and specialised healthcare services in Enugu State. The hospital is being equipped with advanced medical infrastructure, including cancer diagnosis, treatment, and other critical care services, to position it as a centre for excellence and a destination for advanced medical treatment within and beyond Nigeria. A productive state is built on a healthy population, and we remain committed to strengthening our healthcare system to ensure accessible, modern, and quality healthcare for all.

Today, we honoured a living legend, commissioning and renaming the popular Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, which leads to the home of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha. Our administration purposefully rebuilt this road earlier in the year in honour our folk music legend and for the benefit of Ndi Enugu. As government, we have also assumed sole responsibility for his upkeep. We are grateful to God for a day such as this, on which a living legend is honoured while he is still among us.

Yesterday in the State House, I led a delegation from Enugu State on an appreciation visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming our commitment to a partnership that is already delivering tangible results for our people. It was an honour to receive the commendation of His Excellency, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the progress we are making in Enugu State and our shared commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria. Our meeting at the State House reflects a growing alignment between the federal government and the Enugu state government. We are changing that by strengthening these institutions to focus on practical, technical, and vocational skills that prepare our students for real opportunities. The tools and equipment provided are deliberately selected to align with future-ready skills, not outdated methods, ensuring our students are trained for the realities of today and tomorrow. These schools are equipped to nurture not just future employees, but future employers, giving students the tools and environment to practice what they are taught and build real capacity. Our goal is clear: to prepare our young people for the future by giving them access to the right skills, resources, and opportunities to succeed. During the recent signing of a $100 million agreement between the Enugu State Government and an Austrian firm at the Government House, the Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria, Thomas Schlesinger, expressed his home government’s support for the last-mile water connection to homes and offices in Enugu city. I was pleased to see civil servants on ground at Enugu State Secretariat when I visited earlier today. Enugu State is our own and all hands must be on deck to oust the detrimental sit-at-home.
