We are giving the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium a comprehensive overhaul, restoring it to the standard that a city with Enugu’s sporting history deserves. I visited the project site to inspect the progress of work, and it is encouraging to see the transformation taking shape. The stadium will be ready in time for the 2026 National Sports Festival, giving our athletes and visitors a modern facility to compete, celebrate and enjoy the games. 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

Seeing Enugu Air take off on its first regional flight from Akanu Ibiam International Airport to Douala, Cameroon, is a moment of real pride for all of us. This is more than a new flight route. The New Enugu International Hospital is a quaternary healthcare centre, with equipment and capabilities that go beyond what is typically available at tertiary centres. It is built to last and designed to provide comprehensive care under one roof. But for me, the ambition goes beyond reversing medical tourism. We want to create an environment where our best medical professionals can build their careers here, and where those who have left can see a reason to come home. This is the kind of healthcare system Ndi Enugu and Nigerians as a whole deserve, and we are proud to be bringing that vision to life. 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

Returning here to receive an honorary Doctor of Laws is a deeply meaningful moment. I am grateful for the honour and for the trust my people have placed in me to contribute to building the Africa of my dream. We have come far together, and I believe we can go even farther in healing all that ails us as a people. 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

Today, we honoured a living legend, commissioning and renaming the popular Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, which leads to the home of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha. Our administration purposefully rebuilt this road earlier in the year in honour our folk music legend and for the benefit of Ndi Enugu. As government, we have also assumed sole responsibility for his upkeep. We are grateful to God for a day such as this, on which a living legend is honoured while he is still among us.
