The sound of a fallen dictatorship. I heard this sound firsthand 35 years ago in Romania. Since then, my country has progressed a lot from a shithole to an average EU country. We had our disappointments, and still do, but it was totally worth it if you look at the big picture. Good luck to the great Persian people!!

This video keeps popping up in my feed. Let me explain: the EU doesn't have a common army, nor an integrated command-and-control structure. Simply adding up military equipment means nothing. For example, during ww2, France had on paper far more equipment than Nazi Germany, yet it was still defeated. Moreover, the EU is not a country, not a federation, not even a confederation. It is a customs and economic union, a common market. Each member state has its own interests, vision, policies, friends, and enemies (even within the EU). I'd like to see citizens from Western Europe willing to die for Eastern Europe, and vice versa. Or Southerners for Northerners. That would be something 🙂 But until that day comes, please stop summing up military equipment and pretending we're talking about a unified force that is willing and able to fight a superpower. It's laughable. And I say this as a European and a supporter of a federal Europe.
