Lavrov threatens Europe and Keith Kellogg over the project of a new European defence union with Ukraine. He said: “He [Kellogg] is now actively promoting the idea that a new military alliance should be created, and that Ukraine should not be brought into NATO, because, as they say, this has already been rejected both by President Trump and other members of his administration. The treaty is intended to strengthen the European Union’s role in defending Europe, while avoiding the recurring debate that defence is not an EU competence, but rather belongs to individual member states. The Commissioner also called for the creation of a new “real European defence union” involving the United Kingdom, Norway, and Ukraine. For this purpose, he suggested concluding a separate intergovernmental defence treaty, which could be modelled on the Schengen Agreement. Together, we must continue to enhance this strength by protecting life and common values on our continent. ‼️ Trump’s actions in Venezuela should be a wake-up call for the UK. If the US is willing to seize oil tankers and threaten military action to protect its own interests, then what exactly do people think “America First” means for Britain? It means Britain Last. The lesson is obvious: We cannot rely on a superpower that treats allies as disposable and sees global instability as leverage. The only way the UK protects its economy, security and sovereignty is by rejoining our own continent’s economic and political system - the EU. Europe will always defend Europe. The US will always defend the US. It’s time we understood the difference.
