🚨BREAKING: HORRIFIC STORY DEVELOPING🚨 A neighbor’s cellphone video captured the shocking moment he confronted an Anson woman after discovering her 22-year-old daughter, who has severe mental and physical disabilities, confined inside a large chain-link dog kennel in the backyard, covered by a tarp. Kandy Thompson, the girl’s adoptive mother, was later arrested and booked into the Jones County Jail on a felony charge of injury to a child/elderly/disabled person. According to the Anson Police Department, the ordeal began Saturday when the neighbor heard prolonged, distraught screaming coming from Thompson’s property and called 911 to request a welfare check. When officers arrived, they allegedly witnessed Thompson mistreating her daughter, who remained locked inside the outdoor enclosure. The neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous for his safety, spoke exclusively with KTAB/KRBC and provided the raw footage he recorded while confronting Thompson and trying to calm the terrified young woman. In the video, the daughter can be heard wailing and repeatedly crying out, “I’m scared! I’m scared!” Thompson is seen stepping out of the kennel, closing the gate behind her. When the neighbor directly asks if she regularly keeps her daughter in there, Thompson casually answers, “Yes,” explaining that the girl “tears stuff up” and “pees on everything.” For several minutes, the neighbor firmly reprimands Thompson, telling her the treatment is inhumane, until she walks away from the property just before police arrive. Once Thompson leaves, the neighbor turns his attention to the young woman still trapped inside the cage, speaking gently through the chain-link: “Help is coming… just breathe… you’re safe now… this is never going to happen to you again.” He tells her he has heard her screaming “so many times before” and asks how often she’s put in there. Through tears, she answers, “A lot,” and adds that it makes her feel “like I’m not worth anything.” On Monday, after posting bond and returning home, Thompson declined to answer questions from KTAB/KRBC reporters. When approached at her door, she said only, “I can’t say anything right now,” before going back inside.
