It is now at 97% of its capacity, after receiving 3 billion of m³ in recent weeks, thanks to the unusually heavy rainy season in Syria and Turkey. As a precautionary measure, water releases are being carried out & will reach ~800 m³ per second, which will raise the level of the Euphrates to heights unseen in decades. Authorities warned people days in advance not to swim or go too close to the river banks.
