#Syria: Hijri wants so badly to sever all ties with Damascus that his armed wing, the National Guard, blocked the main road & prevented students from #Suwayda from reaching their exam centers. A special exam session was organized in the N. countryside, just on the other side of the front, with transportation provided by Damascus. Yet only a few of the ~13,000 students made it, some sneaking on foot through farmland & mined areas. The situation has reached such a point of no return that Hijri is effectively holding the Druze population under his control hostage - and condemning the future of Suwayda students.

#Syria: a Christian man was freed after being abducted by National Guard-affiliated gunmen in #Suwayda. He was held for over one month and was tortured while his captors asked $200,000 for his release. Abdul Baqi explained the operation was made possible through contacts with local groups in Hijri-held Suwayda. The man was subsequently brought back to Government-controlled areas.

As a result, an elderly woman died of suffocation (shown by the arrow in the video) and the Hospital temporarily closed. Those who committed this insanity will now face accountability. Restoring the grid required months of work: - 30 transformers rehabilitated - 17 transformer enclosures built - 450 low voltage poles installed - 22+ km of cables laid. It was funded by last year's campaign to rebuild Aleppo.

Syrian authorities only informed Iraq after their investigation concluded. The unprecedented seizure of Iranian weapons, incl. systems never seized before, took place on July 7 but was only disclosed today. According to the detained driver, employees at the Iraqi Waleed border crossing were complicit in allowing the shipment - destined for Hezbollah - to pass. Iraqi Prime Minister has now ordered an investigation.

It is now at 97% of its capacity, after receiving 3 billion of m³ in recent weeks, thanks to the unusually heavy rainy season in Syria and Turkey. As a precautionary measure, water releases are being carried out & will reach ~800 m³ per second, which will raise the level of the Euphrates to heights unseen in decades. Authorities warned people days in advance not to swim or go too close to the river banks.
