The Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow this morning was apparently the largest of the entire war so far -- clearly they have been stockpiling for a while. It also included missiles, though they were all shot down as far as I can tell. Most of the 500+ drones were intercepted (1600+ total, a third aimed at Moscow), but several impacted residential buildings and the Moscow Oil Refinery. At least two civilians were killed in Moscow oblast.

It's 10 hours later and the standoff in Kiev between SBU (Ukrainian secret police, internal security agency) and GUR (military intelligence/JSOC) is still hot. There have been multiple firefights throughout the night and morning. At least one dead and two injured are being reported -- all GUR. Though there is no official confirmation, it is being widely reported that the background is that the SBU kidnapped Stepan Kalpunov, one of the commanders of the so-called "Russian Volunteer Corps" (a small media/military unit consisting of exiled Russian neo-Nazis), for unknown reasons and GUR attempted to free him (as the RDK is officially a military unit attached to GUR). The SBU tried to downplay the whole thing by issuing a statement claiming that the whole thing is a "joint operation" between SBU and GUR trying to save Kalpunov (only naming him as a "Russian opposition leader") from a Russian assassination attempt. By now, there's tons of police in the area trying to get both sides to calm down and stop shooting.

There aren't really any other options. In case of the former, probably some sort of psyop against the EU. In case of the latter, Zelensky seems very sure of a Democrat landslide in the midterms and the position of his allies in the US government.

Two Ukrainian border guards rammed a Ukrainian man with their boat and beat him with an oar as he was swimming across the Dniester River to escape to Moldova. The man still made it across the river. Afterward, Moldovans who had been watching from the riverbank got into a confrontation with the soldiers: "You think this is funny? Why were you trying to drown the man? The poor guy was desperate." Moldova's own Border Police arrived at the scene and detained the Ukrainian border guards, since they had illegally crossed into Moldovan territory during the pursuit.

The amount of videos where Poles are spontaneously attacking Ukrainians is getting pretty ridiculous. But it also offers a sneak peek of the upcoming mass deportation of Ukrainian fighting age men from Poland and the rest of the EU. The laws are already in place, so Ukrainians getting beat up is just going to become institutionalized.
