1st drive shows issues. 3 and punt! 1-10 Counter run. zeropush by play side, DE goes under, EPL doesn’t log, 4 whiffs of 7 blockers! 2-9 Split zone read. Beers has to block flat player. 4 whiffs of 7 blockers! 3-9. Pass. We have 7 pass pro’s vs 4 rushers,drop 7 (Best whiffs).

I keep hearing from our expert fanbase that Mateer had all day to throw. Hmmm… this looks very common place to me. DE beats LT to get in 10’s face. LG gets driven back 6 yds to QB lap. C does well. RG leaves his DT unblocked . RT actually stalls the inside move. Sategna whiffs

For you Mateer haters… here are 2 run plays in 2nd drive that netted -2 yds. Remember OU OL outweighs DL by avg of 52 pounds. 1st play - ZERO PUSH! DL stuffs the OL. 2nd play: 20/52 block same guy- who screwed up? 70/69/76 all whiff! OL stinks for 4th straight year!!!

For all you “experts” blaming Mateer for the loss, this is the blocking we have seen the past 4 yrs under Bedenbaugh. 6 blockers for 5 defenders. Nobody touches LB. This blocking scheme sucks! Mateer didn’t have a good game but a poor OLine was the biggest issue (again)

Sickens me the way Mateer has been badmouthed by his own fan base. But not surprised- Landry, Trevor, Spencer, JA, Gabriel,… long line of QB’s slammed by their “fans”? This guy didn’t play well but look at this effort & putting g his body on the line for his team! 💪💪💪
