“A pint of plain is your only man.” 🍺 Written by Flann O'Brien in the 1940s and later turned into a pub classic by The Dubliners. A tongue-in-cheek piece of Dublin pub philosophy suggesting that when things go wrong, the answer might simply be a pint of stout.

A classic bit of Irish horse trading from Castleisland, Co Kerry, filmed in 1973. Maurice "Mossie" Reidy is looking for £300 for his mare, while Mr Raymond wont go above £225. Despite the efforts of a mediator to strike a deal, neither man is willing to budge. A brilliant snapshot of the art of Irish haggling and rural life, captured in an episode of Halls Pictorial Weekly in 1973.

Remembering Luke Kelly today on the anniversary of his passing. This was Luke Kelly's last performance. His voice and memory had deteriorated but he belted out this song with as much heart as possible. The opening & closing verse: "I must away now, I can no longer tarry, This morning's tempest I have to cross, I must be guided without a stumble, Into the arms I love the most".. If you listen carefully as the last note dies out, you'll hear Ronnie Drew softly say..."Good man Luke".
